A mod by its very nature contains all the files you need if you would like to tweak it. And since TATW is a total conversion, they must have used every damn file to create that lovely!

mine isnt. I want to edit the music, but instead of having the MP3s like i was able to do in SS and M2TW, it has music in a DAT and IDK file. I want to get the files out.

You need Vercingetorix's Pack Extractor - search for it in the RTW tools section.

Really? That's strange. Have you put all of the files in the sounds folder of TATW and are you using the unpack_sounds.bat?

    From the README:

    Installation Instructions:

    Installation

    To extract sounds -
Unzip xidx.exe and extract_sounds_idx.bat to your Rome Medieval 2 Total war\data\sounds folder
    Then run extract_sounds_idx.bat
