    Default High Elves Thread

Hey, I'm nearly broke, I'm 50 turns into the game, my treasury should be booming, I have trade agreements with all good factions, roads in all my cities, and ports in all my coast cities, but, like I said, I'm broke, i have an army upkeep of 8000, and corruption of 2000

I'll post a screenshot to show you my empire

What regions are richest around me?

And also, sorry, that's the only converter I have, that would work that is...

I gotta get fraps on here

Also, I can't believe how good that guy is... He's an alcholic with 10 stars... So freaking awesome... lol

Yes. High elf economy is difficult. I presume it is designed to be. To restrict troop numbers.

I don't know about rich cities to take, because I am at 40 turns and I have only managed to capture Minhirraith. All the rest of my efforts are going into keeping hold of Imladris.

I'm pretty sure photoshop does, but if you don't have that, you might want to try this:

If you can take Goblin Town or Moria in the Misty mountains from the OotMM, both are high income cities. When I took them around turn 80/90, they had right after taking them more than 2000 income each. Moreover, by developing the mines further and some trade upgrades, they became real milk cows by 110 turns. The proximity to Rivendell (capital) was further reducing distance penalty to capital.

If you download the file, you'll see the map

I have ALL of the misty mountains, and the province beneath the starting cities, I forget what it's called, but, I should be rolling in it, and also, it won't let me build a port in that city, anyone know why?

In the defense of Imladris, I disbanded all non-free upkeep units and started making as many troops as possible, then attacked the MM, worked perfectly

i also play with the high elves and i had also problems with money in the early game, but i conquered all misty mountains and the cities there have really fantastic mines, so for example moria has an income of 3600 each turn.
I have a corruption minus of about 7,5k each turn but i still get about 12k plus each turn and i am the richest faction now at turn 79 with 180.000. You should just try to defeat the Ootmm and take their cities, tey are really rich!

Hmm, I have about 80k in my treasury but on the other hand I played rather passive and haven't conquered anything in turn 100 ^^

playing as high elves too. had some problems with my money, epsecially when i was recruiting an army in mithlond that i wanted to transport to the east(isengard). i was bankrupt a few times. but now i have conquered all the lands from isengard west of misty mountains and now my income is slowly rising. (haven't attacked OotMM because the dwarves are fighting against and are really succesfull so i don't want to take any settlement which would make dwarves stronger

Selukos, try raising your taxes, that might help

Anyone know the economic situation of Eredian?

I'll start paying attention to the MM, I'll let you know what happens

I had this problem but then I set Mithlond as my Capitol and it doubles the income of all the western territories.

Ya, there's another major thing, if you don't move it from imladris to the west, You get major corruption, but once you take over the MM, do you move it back? That's the question...

Also, where can we change the distance to capital penalty?

Mithlond is my capital im currently about 30,000 turn 40 Eriador has 3 settlement they are currently winning the war because my men are in the cities not assaulting, there money is great though they have 3 low income settlements, im currently building up armies building up armies before about turn 40 is hard because you can only get Light Elven Archers and Elven Infantry which take time to reload but now Mithlond is a Minor City ive been starting to pump out the good cavalry, infantry and Elven Archers

I was in debt up to my eyeballs for a while until I figured this out.

    A) You pretty much can't have a standing army of any size or the upkeep will devour you by inches. If you have a major army, make sure it is attacking something and leeching off your enemy's soil. Keep just enough free garrison units in your protected provinces with a few extra on the border towns.

    B) Don't forget to crank up your taxes to the maximum the cities can bear. Remember you can let the approval dip into the 70-80 range and still be ok. If they start to get uppety just drop taxes for a few turns.

    c) Don't waste any money on armor upgrades because they do nothing .

    D) If you conquer a region with craptastic income and high corruption; first loot the hell out of it and destroy all the buildings for cash. Then offer to donate it to one of your allies for a hefty yearly income. They almost ALWAYS agree to this if they have the cash, even if its gondor and the province is way up north.

Hellz yeah, good call. Never thought about doing that. I was strapped for cash for the first 100 turns or so. I have to start a new campaign tonight with the garrison nerf sub-mod so im definitely going to give that a shot.

I actually got up to 80k, but then gave silvan elves a bunch of money, and am now at 30k, with two full stacks, and a strong garrison, I'm slowly taking over Erodian (??) And just started a war with Isengard, who only has 5 provinces...

You should see my faction leader, lol, but, they key is DEFINITELY the Misty Mountains, try and get ports up as soon as possible...

But everything is good now, I'm starting to take off
