Eye witnesses speculated that the accident may have been an attempted attack on the Royal Family.A car ploughed into the crowd at the Queen’s day pageant in Apeldoorn. 14 spectators were injured, some of them seriously. There are also reports of fatalities, including children. Reporters on the spot say the car drove at high speed, people were thrown into the air. The car crashed into a monument for Queen Wilhelmina. The driver is arrested. Emergency services are rushing to the spot to provide aid to the victims.
The incident occurred just seconds after a luxury coach carrying the Royal Family passed the spot. The coach was stopped and Queen’s days was cancelled.

Reading the Dutch news sources, the man, slammed through the barricades, to reach the crowd and our Royals. I wonder what went through is head? He's being interrogated right now, why would annyone do this? Our Royals are harmless, the people in the Crowd are harmless, I hope this guy never gets out of prison!

hm you beat me to it

Injuries as car crashes close to royal bus
    Thursday 30 April 2009
At least 14 people have been injured in a serious accident during the royal family's visit to Apeldoorn to celebrate Queen's Day.
TV pictures show a heavily-damaged black car driving through the barriers erected to keep the crowd under control, close to the bus carrying queen Beatrix and the rest of her family.
The car ploughed into a fenced-off obelisk.
Family members on board the open bus witnessed the incident.
The driver of the car was cut out and taken to an ambulance on a stretcher. One eyewitness told the Telegraaf someone had fallen out of the car shortly before it hit the pillar.
The rest of the celebrations in Apeldoorn have been cancelled and the royal family will not appear again in public, Nos tv reports.
Nos tv said it is difficult to find out more about the incident because the use of mobile phones has been banned.
A news conference has been scheduled for later this afternoon.

It must have been a deliberate attack to be honest either that or somebody with a serious mental illness.
Not a very talented terrorist even if he hit the bus he wouldn't have killed any of the royals, the car was way to small and a bus way to big.

Here a link to the car's owner, an 38 year old man, from Velp
Remember, it is not known wether he was the driver or not.

So how is everything at your places? At mine the whole thing is getting smaller, all events get packed up and people are starting to leave. Can't believe that one man decides to kill the spirit of a whole nation, my condolensces to the families of the people who died.

I don't think the news had any real impact here in Amsterdam, people just went on with the celebrations as usual.

It's a sad thing, but IMO we shouldn't let one incident spoil a nation wide festival.

EDIT: I just heard they are cutting the show at the "museum square" in Amsterdam short because of this.
Hmmm, I just came from there.

    Because it is.

More people are killed in Iraq each hour than in this incident.

I saw the police let a dog sniff the vehicle, I think to search for drugs (but it could also be to search for explosives, I don't know).
