I followed Iskandar's steps until the descr_strat error in line 939, but the campaign reset didn't work for me. Hope that anybody has any advice to fix this.
I'm using RTW 1.5 and Vista.

Thanks in advance. Enjoyed RTRPE a couple of years ago and hope to enjoy ExRM.

Can you describe in detail what you did and what kind of error you get?

Also, have a look at this thread.

Installed RTW - patched first to 1.3, then 1.5
Used bladerunner900's stand alone installer for ExRM 3.4.1
Then deleted all mentions of shield_wall, can_swim and schiltrom in ExRM/Data/export_descr_units.txt
In ExRM/Data/text - copied and pasted the contents of barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names into imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.
Then doubled clicked on campaign_map_reset under ExRM folder.

That got me past the Apameia script error, but stuck with the ../imperial_campaign/descr_strat line 939 error. After looking at your Alex port thread, tried finding the map.rwm to delete, but couldn't find it (using search).

Ah, deleting map.rwm is the easy part. Just go to your exrm folder and run the campaign map reset batch file. That should do the trick.

Or you can do it manually, it should be in the data\world\maps\base folder (if not already deleted \ not yet created). Also you need to take care of couple of other things for Alex to work(immortal trait, chat.san file, blah, blah). Have a look at the readme in the attachment to the thread I referred to. But these shouldn't cause the error you get, anyway.

@Quinn What does the batch file do, beside deleting the map.rwm?

It deletes all the relevant map.rwm files in the subfolders. Check out the batch file in notepad.

Actually I don't have the Alexander expansion pack. I just have the same errors when applying the mod to RTW 1.5, which is why I followed your steps.
Currently stucked with the descr_strat.txt line 939, column 12. Campaign map reset does not help (never had map.rwn) and can't really see the problem in the txt file itself.

I tried starting a historical battle (since this error shouldn't appear there) and had another error upon exit. generic error: database_table error found: unrecognised record id roman legionary cohort i requested. Guess I'm might have to wait to retrieve my BI copy in a couple of months - just as well, one less addiction

Ah hah! I think I have it. Did you copy over your descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt from barb_inv to imp_campaign?

I just checked my fresh install of ExRM with the Alex port (I didn't even bother to instal BI ) and both files have the same contents. AFAIK, I haven't touched them.

@Mordeus The historical battle might just be RTR srewing with vanilla RTW but did you try custom battle?
You can always try the Big Gun method - copy and overwrite all files from data\world\maps\campaign\bi to data\world\campaign\maps\imperial. Just make backups first.
That and the region and settlement names file in data\text seem to me the only differences between using BI and RTW.

Hmmm...for some reason I got the impression that he might've installed piecemeal, so his files may not be identical. Eh, it was worth a try.

I've followed all the compatibility instructions for RTW 1.5 and I'm getting a really odd string error with descr_building_battle, in that it's not recognising 'none' as a string in ddb_slot_fillers.txt. More specifically, it points out line 11, i.e. the first instance of localised_name, and presumably, the error should persist throughout the file.

The exacts of the string error are:

Script Error in data/descr_building_battle/dbb_slot_fillers.txt, at line 11, column 24.

Unable to find building_battle localised string 'none'
I've run the batch file, and made sure the map file is gone... any help?

If it matters where the crash occurs, it's upon loading the exe, where the first screen comes up with the trademark stuff.
