    Default German berserkers

After playing with the Greeks and Romans I've now started with the Germans. However I've noticed I can't build their special unit; The berserker

I've build every building possible, including all 3 sacred circles (or whatever they're called) but I still can't build them... Building the special "Gothic cavalry" isn't a problem, but no matter which one of those sacred circles I build or in which city I can't build berserkers...

I know you can use them in "custom battle", did you guys leave them out of the campain or something?

(Btw great mod! This mod together with the LOTR and SPARTAN mods are the best I've seen so far)

It's very possible they were left out of the campaign. I haven't faced them yet in campaign, so I wouldn't know, but I submit this:

I know there are units (Legionary Cavalry is one?) that are available for custom battles but not available in the Roman campaign. Seems to reason that if Rome has units like this that the Germans could, too.

You need the "Shrine to Donar" and more importantly, the Marian reforms. Not sure how that will play out, but good luck.

yes i was asking myself the same question, i understand why leg.cav isnt on campaing, the time frame of the game dont encompass the creation of leg.cav. in history and i dont realy mind. as for the berserkers the same rule dont apply... but i supose is after the marian reforms becouse they are a very strong unit and will be better to face them with better units, as for the mod is thinked for playing as romas.

Yea that was the first thing I did building those shrines to donar, however I didn't know the Marian reforms also effected factions other than the romans....

When will these Marian reforms take place? Arround 107 BC?

    (btw thnx for the replies!)

They'll take place when the AI Romans capture all of Carthage's original settlements and builds high level Governor's houses....

You know what? Don't wait around. I doubt the Roman AI will ever get there.

Roman AI will not get there because thy don' t have the intelligence to capture all of Carthage. This is because the game was developed for roman play only.

The Germans took one of my cities. They had a Beserker unit on my wall that destroyed 3 Urban Cohorts and 4 Sword Auxillia, hence the main reason i lost the city. I have never played as the Germans, but i know that blasted Beserker unit exists.

hmmm... The Romans have already been killed in my game... only SPQR remains, but they are surrounded by Gaul and the Carthaginions... So waiting for those reforms seems kinda useless

In a new game I could try and take over those Carthaginion regions and then use diplomacy to give them to the romans thus "unlocking" those beserkers...

However that would take a long time and is kinda cheating the game anyway... So isn't there a way I could initiate those reforms by changing something in my game file?

If you really want this unit you could go to your export_descr_buildings.txt and find "barb berserker german" and remove "and marian_reforms" but make a copy of the file first. When your done playing as the Germans you can put the copied file back in.
