    Default Skin Problem, Please Help!

    Hi to all

I fixed a new skin of Light Infantry for Greece....
the skin is working except this problem
as u can see from the image, there some white spots around the uniform, and appearing when the camera is not moving.

What I did was save my uniform to .jpg (Photoshop 7.0) then converted with NVIDIA DDS (V.8.23)
    I have tried from DXT1 to DXT5
I also tried with DXTbmp (the only change save my work to .bmp) again the problem exists.

Finally step, replace the existing infantry model with the new one through pack manager.

Any ideas what causing this prob ?
can someone help me ? (I can send him my uniform image)

I believe it's from the normal file. Copy the normal file and rename it to match your unit (euro_line_infantry_greece_normal.dds or whatever it is). Delete the contents of the file and add it to your .pack. See if the dots go away.

Yea I would try editing the normal file.

Also if you use photoshop it is best to open the DDS files directly in it, instead of converting them. This could cause the problem as well.

If you don't use photoshop, I really suggest you get it, it's the best program for editing these files.

    Thanx for the advice

by inserting the normal .dds some of the white spots where vanished,
    see in the images :

but when I change the camera in the same direction of the sun the white spots appear again

so if its the normal.dds which creating this bug, how I can edit it ???

Did you delete contents of the normal map file? If so, I'm surprised that didn't get rid of the dots. Sometimes parts not painted by the gloss file will show traces of the model.

Regardless, normal files are tricky to edit. You can cut/paste parts of them easily. You can also make your own, but it's an art in itself. Google for a normal map plug-in for whatever program you're using.

Thanx Erasmus for the help, actually the prob was made by the gloss_map, I had to change the uniform in order to get it according with the gloss.
