    Icon4 Sub Mod Suggestion thread

    Here is thread for the people who are not itself modders(i'm too one of them....), but would really like to suggest something to made and wish not wait for a such new release.




    Edit: I would suggest that somebody would make black blood for orcs and trolls. It would be really nice. Is it even possible to have black blood for orcs and sametime red for human and elves?

    I would just like the have a bigger campaign map and more factions added. I'm not getting very far in my campaigns because I keep trying each faction. Want even more factions, and units please, to try out.

    There is, its called "New Shores" or something, its a bigger map and adds 4 new factions.

    Seriously runing around posting "helpfull" threads will get you nowhere. Threads like these should be posted by mod members imho.

    - Adding a Beornings/Woodmen/Anduin Vale faction.
    - Merging the Dwarves and Dale into one faction for diplomatic reasons.
    - Adding a White Council faction at Rivendell, I would prefer that above a Sauron faction.
    - Splitting the Silvan Elves into a Lorien and Mirkwood faction.
    - Adding a Umbar faction.
    - Adding a Khand faction.
    - Adding a Dol Amroth faction.
    - Starting the mod a bit earlier in the time of the Hobbit, than you've got two interesting events: Battle of the Five Armies and the Attack on Dol Guldur.
    - Starting the mod a bit later, so that you've all the hero's seen from the trilogy.

    Why make it a mod rather than making a suggestion for the team

    Not going to happen. They would be very neutral and weak factions since they have only couple regions on the borgers of map.

    - Starting the mod a bit later, so that you've all the hero's seen from the trilogy.
    We can't start earlier since Saruman had no forces before year 2953 or so. We don't want to start later since campaign would be pretty short.

    On request of Egor I'm reposting my suggestion

    IMO this is the easiest way to increase immersion. Everything else should be done after this. Unfortunately people tend to disagree with me, even after I point out they are wrong.

    I know it's not proper etiquette to aks other people for mods when I have zero modding skill. But I'm wondering if anyone is already working on the following or planning to do it:

    *Replacing the remaining vanilla pictures (such as the relationship worsened messages or general killed messages).
    *Removing some vanilla sounds.

    I'm guessing this will be worked on for the next release by the team, but it'd be great if someone else managed to do it sooner. I'm not talking about creating a few dozen new pictures, but I think the game would already be 12.53% more immersive if all the vanilla pictures were to be temporarily replaced by some standard/generic TATW pictures (for example a picture of middle earth, or of the faction icons).

    And removing vanilla sounds can't be that much work...right? I feel these 2 things are a bit of a missed opportunity, considering the high immersion/workload ratio.

    Feel free to give me a thorough spanking for lacking patience and underestimating the work... or just do it for t3h R3pz0rz.

    Not going to happen.
    Yeah, I know the team wasn't planning on doing it, but that's why I posted it here, this are suggestions for a submod, not for the actual mod. Though I wouldn't mind having the Silvans seperated and a Beorning faction added. I can understand however about factions like Umbar and Khand which are totally surrounded by allies.

    I have a great idea for a submod, which hopefully the dev's will implement into the full TATW for balance and to improve gameplay:



    1) Split Dwarves into two factions, corruption kills the dwarf faction

    2) Splitting Silvan Elves into Lorien and Mirkwood

    3) Improve faction standings and rework regional diplomacy to avoid the High Elves-Eriador type problems. For example, Elves should all be allied, Dwarves all allied (when these guys are split up), I also propose that the Silvan elves ally with the Dale, High Elves with Eriador, OOMM with Isengard, etc. This would re-create the regional conflicts more accurately instead of a free-for-all with any faction. Some of these type of alliances are already in place, I'm just listing ones that help get my point accross.

    4) Re-balance EDU, nerfing most archers (not elven of course), and nerfing trolls a bit, whether it is by decreasing the recruitment pool or their unit sizes.

    I like your ideas but I don't think this mod needs anymore factions right now. I think increasing unit variety(basically give more difference between say early and late period units), and balancing the units(Trolls and archers) would be better goals to start with. That's just my opinion I however have no modding skill whatsoever so I hope someone can realise some of these great ideas posted in this thread. On second thought, Splitting the Dwarves up might add more immersion. One of them could be near Erebor and the other norht of OOMM. That could add more tension between factions around that area.

    i got perfect sounds for all situation for gondorian characters but i dont know how to put them into TATW. i tried a lot this evening but it doesnt work...

    Not going to happen. All dwarves dwelling in western parts of Middle-earth were loyal to king of Durin's folk since almost everyone of them was Longbeard.

    Hopefully will happen.

    These were answers about how we will do it in actual TA:TW. Sub-mods can do anything they want.

    I agree with this suggestion, although I have a feeling it might be included in the next patch/update/release for the mod itself.

    Aaaaand I did have a extremely awesome post written out, the Internet just decided to eat it. But to summarize, I wanted to say that I Firmly Support MadTiest!!! (for President!) , but really, I completely agree with his post. I think that getting rid of ALL the vanilla aspects of the game will make this wonderful mod even wonderfull-er, and would add SO much MORE to the already amazing immersion and in theory, should not be too difficult.

    Also, I wanted to ask if anyone knows where ALL the text files for the game are....filed! And by all, I mean all, like traits, ancillaries, unit descriptions, building descriptions, etc. I'm not too much of a modder but I do know my English (being a nerdy Honors college guy ), and I'd love to help out by doing some proofreading and fixing up the spelling and gramatical errors! And MAYbe if I get ambitious even adding quotes for loading screens, unique descriptions to replace the vanilla ones that are left, stuff like that (approved by the team of course). It's a boring thing to do, but for SOME reason I'd love to do it and I think it could add a lot to the immersion!

    So if anyone knows where those files might be, or hey, if anyone from the team thinks I could "maybe" help , please let me know!

    Blood is samne for all factions. Can't be changed. '

    Better totally remove winter. Winter ground was removed but snow not

    Well if possible we should have snow in Misty Mountains and most northern parts of map.
