Default Anyone else lame like me and when losing a big battle, load game?

Well im sure i will get some heat here but seriously,i cannot come to terms with losing a HUGE battle, for me i just load the game and try again . I know that is VERY lame but i cant come to terms with losing such a big battle and i wish there was some sort of autosave feature like every 1 min so that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to load a game after you lost something. I mean i wanna play it right, but my mentality makes it hard for me to. But i honestly would like to actually be in the defensive mode but its hard for me to not load.

If you think about it,this is kind of like the fast travel in oblivion. I hated fast traveling but i did it anyways because there was no penelty and because i saved lots of time if not hours fast traveling.

Thats not to say i load every little thing,no i dont. If i lose small battles,i let em be.

So are there anymore people like that or is everyone a non loader? Dont get me wrong,i am totally against loading games but i just cant do it

People are like me(if any),what can i do to try to fool my mind not to do it??? Any advice?

    I know,i know,im totally lame...

Yeah, I do that too, and also do it for Assassins and Spies etc. until they accomplish their mission. After all, the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) always gets their man and so should my Assassins since the comppooter knows everything you do and is in effect cheating.

    Yeah, thanx. It was funny!!!!

I live in Detroit across the straits (river as some people erroneously call it) from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. From Detroit you can see or could once see the Canada Dry soda pop factory (or was it a giant billboard??, I forget), the Royal Canadian whiskey distillery (may be gone now, I forget again), the Windsor Casino (I do much better at MGM, the Motown and Greek Town casinos in Detroit), and the RCMP used to come to the Michigan State Fair and put on demos where there were about 20 or so of them in their red uniforms with lances and they would make a charge with levelled lances. I once saw the Detroit MPD make a splendid charge into a mass of rioting 'peace' demonstrators in 1969, 1970, or 1971, I forget, and it was an interseting melee and the cops and their warhorses won, although they did finally get infantry support. The RCMP and the former and world famous Mounted Police Division/Department of the City of Detroit cross trained sometimes and of course worked together on cases, same for the OPP (Ontario Provincal Police).

I don't reload battles UNLESS the army has a faction leader, heir, or soon-to-be-heir in them. And that usually happens to be 70% of the time >_<

i never do because i like the challenge and if i lose a large force i cry a little and bear with it makes the game a harder and funner makes you feel like you have to fight an uphill battle of sorts

I don't reload for assasins or whatever, only when I think I just lost a battle because of idiotic reasons (I.e my army spawns right on some sort of unpassable and unclimbable cliff...)

(and for the reason HordeOfDoom stated)
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

I love being outfought and losing. Makes the game that much more fun and satisfying when you win.

I do that if important general/character dies, like five/seven star general or Faramir dies. But when playing Mordor/other baddies it is all good to die expect witches

Yeah, the DPMD, not the RCMP, it was in Detroit. The DPMD had about 3-foot long hickory or maple wood bataons/clubs, and the horses reared and stomped on peoples' feet, and they went around in circles knocking people down, and the hosrese were turned sideways and pushed into the mob with the cops flailing away with their clubs and the mob throwing stones and bricks and bottles and cans and beating at the cops and horses with sticks/lumber/clubs/baseball bats, etc. Similar to the Battle of Hastings. Then some dismounted Detroit cops, the infantry moved in. The dismounted cops were first pushed back and the Mounted cops were then called in, then the infantry cops came back again to help the cavalry cops. It was a big rucus and in the papers and on the news. A cavalry charge in the city.

Years later I tried to get a replay but not anyone was interested and there wasn't a load game button available.

It's more fun and enjoyable cheating like the compooter does, and that is being fair and just in thought and deed.

Im guilty on the assassin/spy front. I save before every battle just in case something happens like my units get bugged but i try not to load just because i lose. I find pleasure i getting beaten and the revenge is ever so sweet.

I only do that for really huge battles. If it's anything below 500 i'll keep it. I never do it for political stuff though.

And man, do I hate fast travel too...But it's so good.
If I can't cheat, how will I get through school???

I played a whole game in the 'non-loader' style. It was in Rome: Total War and it was the most enjoyable campaign I had ever played. The reason I did not bother reloading after losing any battle, large or small, was because I was a tyrant. If my soldiers failed to win a battle that I was counting on them for, then they DESERVED to die. In fact, if I could see that they were failing I would retreat my general and archers but charge all infantry and cavalry.

And when you know you are going to lose the battle, your goal is to make the enemy's victory very costly. When I looked at it in this perspective, losing a battle began to seem more and more acceptable.

Stop being such a perfectionist! You should build an army with a general and throw him on a suicide run and deliberately save the game after you've lost.

Don't be weak! Your soldiers have nothing better to do than to die for you. They are small, they are beneath you, and you are the boss of them.

If you are afraid that you will lose ground because of defeat at a large battle, don't worry. After all, you were expecting this and have been assembling another army to destroy what was left of the enemy.

    Edit:
By the way, I have OCD but was able to 'non-load' because deliberately saving after a defeat became a ritual and a reflex. I can't begin to tell you how much more fun Total War battles are when tons of your men die and you can't do anything else but mock their deaths. Once, I had to pause out of battle because it was TOO much fun and I couldn't handle it!
