Default still having problems with units cards and background

    1. Could someone go step-by-step over creating new unit cards as I'm getting red card problems
    2. Where do you change the unit background text

    thanks all

I replied to the second question in the unit tutorial you posted in earlier.

I'm also having trouble with getting unit cards to work with a custom unit. The tutorials I've found don't mention the icon mask, and I don't know enough about photo editing to figure it out. Is there a way to bypass the faction colors that the game tries to paint onto the unit card, either by disabling them somewhere in the PFM or by somehow making an icon mask that ignores the color and just shows the unit card as is?

If it's anything like the regular textures, you just fill in the alpha channel black and it disappears once you save.
I've not completed a full icon conversion on a custom unit yet though, so I'm not certain.

Ok, I found a blank icon mask from another mod and renamed it to fit my unit, and that's doing the trick. I figured that out last night, but I apparently moved the mask into my ui folder but forgot to re-add it to my mod, so the mod was still loading the old one.

Use the attached file as an icon mask if you're wanting to use a normal image for your custom unit. Just rename it to whatever you need (example, green_dragoons_icon_mask) and place it in your ui/units/icons folder along with the actual icon.

It's in a rar file, you apparently can't upload a .tga by itself.

still getting a red icon. If I attach my mod could you have a quick look to see if you can see where I'm going wrong?

    Thanks mate

Ok. I'm not sure why some of the images use the word icon and some don't, but if you use it on the mask you need to use it on the image too. Just remove the "icon" part from your mask and it works. I don't remember the exact name of your file but if it's:

    Sharpe's_rifles.tga

    The mask can't be:

    Sharpe's_rifles_icon_mask.tga

    It has to be:

    Sharpe's_rifles_mask.tga
