I´ve read on a web a bit about Umbar and the corsairs, and decided to change the long bow of the corsairs archers with a recurved one like the haradrim use, you can check the screen and new download in the first post.

I´ve found a very nice black leather lamellar armour that i thought could fit very well the corsairs, so i started working on it. I´ve modified not only that, but others minor tweaks as changing the color of the cloth band or giving more details to the shoulderpads.
I´m going to include this new texture as another option for the "corsairs improvement", as i think there may be people who do not like it and prefer the first version. Anyway i am really satisfied with this new version, and i think i am mostly done with these guys, as i am currently very happy with how they are.![]()

Make version 2 an upgrade.
What do you mean with the upgrade? a new more armoured corsair unit or the same one but with the copper shield? IIRC at the moment upgrades from smiths don´t work at all in the mod.
About that guy, i was trying to make him similar to the corsair of the film that talks to Aragorn in the return of the king.

Hi Bucefalo, Great work, Umbar is my favorite area to play when not using a 'good aligned' faction.
Before Renown released his mod, back when 1.0 was still shiny and fresh, i cloned Harad and made a Umbar faction to simulate what gameplay would be like in their circumstance, highly enjoyable!
I am so happy to see so many people interested and supporting Umbar!
I also agree that all modders should get together to produce their projects in collaboration rather than individually trying to make their place, so please do not be afraid to approach somebody to that end!

Of course, i´ve uploaded a new picture of the corsair skin. Keep in mind that the version 2 skin is already included in Real combat, so if you download that mod you won´t need to download it separately
I´m glad you like the corsairs too mate, to be honest at first i when i started modding TATW what i wanted to do was to create a independent Umbar faction. Thing is that later, when i read more about the lore and the timeframe of the mod, i realised that Umbar was only a city controled by the haradrim at the TATW timeframe, and there was not much reasons to make it independent. If it was set early in the third age (around the kin-strife) then i would of course like to see them separated as a faction.Originally Posted by Archaon
I already talked with Renown some time ago about helping him with DaC, i´m not skilled enough to create new models or textures from no base, the only thing i am capable to do is to modify existent both models and textures to create new things. I would not mind to help DaC with some work if you need it, but i do not want to be a full member and at most would only colaborate with some work. Hello Bucefalo, I think you should go ahead with the Umbar faction,I like what Archaon has to say very much! I know Presbiter is creating a whole new faction that his larger map will be located south of Umbar!
Since TATW came out I only play this and Broken Crescent!
Have you tried it? There are loads of units in it that with a bit of tweaking would work so well for various factions here! The Armenians,Ghorids and Ghazni factions in particular have some excellent units! I did hear that they are not keen on allowing them to be used which is a real shame. Im trying to learn the basics of skinning and creating factions so I can have a go myself... I think I maybe some time tho! Keep on skinnin!![]()
I´ve been working on a little surprise for all the fans of the corsairs of Umbar, and i´ll replace this mod with the new project, as i used most of this mod as a base for it. This mod will only change the visuals and won´t affect the gameplay at all.
The old umbar minimod will be completely replaced with the new one, so if you wish to download the current Umbar submod do it now!
In a few days i´ll update it with the new changes, i hope you all may like them and improve your TATW experience.

Yes, sorry. Yesterday i removed the links from the first post, as i´m going to release a new mod and replace this one.
I´ll probably update the first post today or tommorrow. I think the new version will satisfy you enough to not miss the old one![]()
Only thing is that the black numenoreans are no longer in the harad roster, the only changes i made is to the visual aspect of the corsair units.

Man, your texture workis great (I really love the other one, with the Harad tribesmen), but what really caught my attention was the option of having black numenoreans at Umbar.... Why take it out?
