    Reworked Corsairs of Umbar

    Introduction
    This is an update of an old mod, formerly called "Umbar minimod". My objective is the same thought, to make the corsairs a bit better looking and to fit more with their pirateish imagery. To that end in this version i added a few new changes, such as adding a few weapons. This mod only modify the visual aspect of the unit, and it should be compatible with all submods as long as you install the reworked corsairs over the mod (first the other mod, and then this one)



    Features
    Here is a picture of how the corsairs look like ingame.

    The changes i made to the corsairs were a different colour for the shoulder pads, i made them so they look like part of the armour. Also i modified the original arrows of the quiver so they look more realistic, using arrows from the 1066 models. For each corsair unit some changes were done too.

    • Melee corsairs

    I gave them a knife or a buckler in their shield hand, they can carry one of the two. The buckler comes with two different colour variations. In total they have 3 weapons: cutlass, knife and buckler.

    • Corsair archers

    I gave the same bucklers to them as the melee corsairs, but they are random too. Some of them get it while others don´t. In total they have 3 weapons: bow, cutlass and buckler. At first they did not have buckler but a knife, but ultimately i decided to give it to them because they are supposed to be something of a hybrid unit "melee-archer", so i thought they would be better in melee with buckler and also looks good, as it is a small shield who do not interfere much with using the bows.

    The buckler motif is the tengwarin letter U-tehta, which is normally asociated to the city of Umbar, as in this emblem:




    Credits
    Credit must be given to the people which created the material i used as a base for this submod, those people are:

    • Original corsair textures and models, by King Kong
    • New arrows from 1066 models, by Disgruntled Goat
    • Original buckler textures, by The Long Road, Lotr mod for Mount & Blade

    Also i would like to thank King Kong for allowing me to release this submod to the community

    Great ! i hope size of other units is not modified ? For example...with your export_descr_unit , if i replace the old one with that one , the size will always be 151 for spearmen..etc ?

    Yes, i only modified the stats of the black numenorian unit, the rest of the export_descr_unit is the same as the original

    I already installed the eldar heavy swordsmen mod and I already installed many of the same files for that mod im not really sure what to do about it or if they are just compatible normally??

    No you'd have to copy and paste the heavy eldar swordsmen entry seperately.

    one sugestion: why don´t you wait for other guys to realese more "aditional" units, like the high elven swordmen, and then you guys put all of them together. then you would have a more interesting sub-mod. + i supose lot of people will want to use this sub-mods at the same time (i know i do). just a sugestion. again, good work

    Just let the devs pick the units and maps and stats they want and simply put them in Version 2.0, as that would save a lot of work and time.

    At the moment i´ve no plans to do a compilation of mini mods, but i would gladly give my support if someone wanted to do it.

    I´m interested too to hear about the black númenórian unit, do you like how it is? Do you feel it is too powerful?

    In my tests, i saw that because of their 2 handed animation they were actually very prone to die to quick attacks, that is why they have 2 hitpoints and a small unit size, to represent that there are few black numenorians left...

    Of course that is no problem to bring Gondor to heel as you would know

    a Bit overpowered ..i know this is two hand weapon units but i guess that -5 attack would be not bad .

    i haven´t download the mini-mod be cause i am on a litle trip rigth now, just using my notebook to check what´s goin on in the forums. so i cuoldn´t tell they were too powerfull or not. i´ll certanly download it later

    I´m not really an experienced modder but i am proud to do my little steps in modding modifying things on my own, here i leave you my latest creation.

    I´ve been trying to improve the corsairs appareance by making them a bit more "evil" and sinister, i wanted them to be more like the ones of the films (and books) and to really have personality, instead of being the typical unwashed barbarian

    If people like them i will put the skin here too so you can have them too

    Fing AWESOME,i play Harad now and i'd love to have these units. I am DLing now,+REp,thanks man,keep up the good work

    btw:is this mod loadable for campaign?or only able to use a fresh start ?

    I´m glad you like it

    You should start a new campaign, or you won´t be able to recruit the black numenorean unit. You can still use the corsair skin without restarting thought.

    This mod modify these files: battle models.db, ui files (pictures of the unit), descr_building, descr_regions and export_descr_unit

    So if you, for example, want to play with a new balanced export_descr_unit, instead of the original, the only thing you have to do is to add "spain" (harad) in faction ownership of the dismounted numenorians. First install the umbar mod and then add the new balanced edu.

    Keep in mind that i made them not as powerful as before, they are a worse (and cheaper) version of the eldar 2 handed swordsmen. This is because they need to be in line with the new balance of the edu.

    Hey bro,i am a big fan of what you just did on this mod (the numberians) and i think that you should add more units to other factions than just Harad. I realise that you said you did that mod for yourself but it would be a good idea to do other high end units like ... trolls into Isengard or Elvish High end Unit into Rohan or Gondor and vise versa.

    I know this wouldnt be for some people but other people like me would like it alot. And the way i think of it for example: Rohan is in good terms with lets say Elfs. The elfs would give their best unit to Rohan but of course it would take lv 3 baracks or whatever until you can use them.

    I mean its just an idea and i ask because i will most likey not be able to use the numerians for my Harad campaign since its unloadable but on my 2nd run through with either a good or bad faction,i'd like to be able to use one of my allies best units and what not.

    Its just an idea that i think others would like as well(again not for everyone cause im sure not everyone would like a Troll in Rhun's army),and if you have the time,i think you should go for it but anyways again just a suggestion.     I understand, well i currently have no plans for modifying other factions with this mod, i want to keep it only to Umbar-Harad. There is already another submod which is adding more units to all factions, you can have a look at that.

    I´ve beeen trying to add a new skin for the black numenoreans of the harad faction, but i am not satisfied with the result, i need to look up more images and information. If i manage to create something worthy i will show you here too. The rest of the Harad roster looks very good to me and i don´t see any need of modification yet.
