Default User options prior to installing

What is the generally accepted set up?

Please post here the options you selected when you instaled the game (e.g. landbridges on/off)

I always play with landbridges on, fatigue on, XGM movement speeds, full AI bonus, reduced borders, and especially since you are playing as the GCS, loyalty. Nearly everyone plays with landbridges, and I feel that I get the full XGM experience with the options I use.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

That is definitely the full XGM experience there IMO as well...though I usually play with bonuses off, turtle turtle turtle.

This seems to be a good set up, i'm just trying to find some level ground for the RPG game (see sig) as I think that if someone is playing with say loyalty on, another off the save game will not be compatible.

What is the benefit of reduced borders? Also, I play with fatigue off, as the install says the AI can't cope with fatigue very well. Do you all find this to be a problem?

I switch between fatigue off and on, it does help the AI to not have it on. Reduced borders makes the minimap look a lot better, I can't stand the old vanilla border style anymore...

It's amazing really, I never used to think about the old style borders, but then I switched and I haven't gone back.

    I use:

Fatigue Off : More fun to battle.
Land Bridges On : The AI expands better.
Reduced AI Bonusus Off : A stronger AI is more fun to fight.
Reduced Borders : Just looks better.
No Red Line : Better screenshots.
Loyalty On : It gives the game more depth.
XGM Movement Speeds : It is a better speed then those fast vanilla ones.
Alex.exe : Better AI more fun.
Promotheus Cities On : Looks better.
1 HP System On : The battles are for me best balanced in this mode. Not to long as in 2 HP.

    I'm currently running:

    Land bridges: On
    Prometheus Cities: On
Red line: On (haven't yet tried the alternative)
Reduced AI Bonus: On (I'm still new to XGM)
RTW.exe (I have stability issues with BI in general and still have to get hold of Alex)
Loyalty: On (for a more interesting game experience)
Fatigue: Off (still testing this and looking for an alternative)
1HP: On (haven't got the time for longer battles)
XGM movement rates: Off (as above)

I'd like to try and mod fatigue to minimise the effects of walking/running while leaving/increasing the effects of fighting, if possible, but I haven't yet got round to checking whether this is possible.
