    Default Patch 1.02

So I'm having problems installing patch 1.02. After waiting several hours for the patch to complete and uninstalling and reinstalling the game, this is what I've gotten:

It always freezes on data_1.pack. I've read over these forums and learned that it usually takes a long time to install, but like I said, I've waited upwards of two hours - something has to be wrong. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks for your time.

Could be damaged or faulty disk. Try copying it to your hard drive. If you get an error message about redundancy or something like that, then the disk cannot be read correctly and you might have to replace it.

Not sure, I've had the Medieval II disk for a long time and have played it a lot in the past, and only recently patched the game.

Also, I've installed the game on my external hard drive. However, don't know if that's an issue or not, because not only have I installed and played many games on it (including Medieval II without the patches) but have also successfully installed the 1.01 patch.

Rule #1, forget patch 1.01. Just install the game (1.00) and then 1.02. You cannot update from 1.01 to 1.02. It's a CA oops when they made the 1.02 installer. In fact, it's been well documented since 1.02 was released.

I'm having the exact same problem, thing is i have noth the kingdoms disk and the downloded patches.

i tried patching automatically and manually for 1.02 from both the DVD and the downloaded patch, but regardless of which one, it wont finish patching to 1.02, it gets stuck on data_1.pack

so if the disk patch doesnt work, and the downloaded (already on my HD so it cant be a damaged disk or cyclic redundancy) what the hell is wrong with it?

only thing i can think of now is trying to restore registry (CCleaner does that right?) but i have my doubts if that will work at all

using XP and a couple of programs that might set of copy protection, even thogh i use them legitimately. like uTorrent, Daemon tools lite.

interesting thing. I left patch 1.02 from my kingdoms disk to install overnight and it worked ^_^ i'm now patching to 1.03 and while its teeth grindingly slow, it is installing, although it might take a few hours '~'
in the last 20 minutes on data_1.pack its gone up about 2 little bars with about 10 more to go.

EDIT - must just be a normal thing then, it took 2.5 hours to do the 1.03 patch, and now everything else installs in about 3 minutes. must just be the size of the files that need to be rearranged and changed etc.

You're not going to get version 1.2 installed with Utorrent, Daemon, Nero, and a host of games because of the copy protection, no matter how legitimate you bought them under present circumstances. Contact Securom support and request a medieval2.exe that allows their use. If they say "No" or just choose to ignore you we cannot help you here.
