Ever since patch 1.2 I've noticed the Senate doesn't ever threaten me no matter how big my empire gets and how many missions I DON'T do- was this nerfed? Has anyone modded it back in if it was nerfed?

Playing on h/h the senate NEVER: Asks me to commit suicide. Let's me get away with doing NO missions ever- they never get pissed. They NEVER outlaw me even if I have 49 provinces! So I take Roma and: game over. That sucks from a gaming point of view. I miss being at about 30 provinces in size and then they styart getting pissed and threatened by me.

In fact the ONLY way to get outlawed now seems to be to attack someone myself- which is dumb. It's much more fun to have the civil war start BEFORE you're quite ready for it.

    Anyone else miss thiat?

I have yet to finish a roman campaign on 1.2, but my brother just got asked to kill his faction leader. However he had close to 80 provinces (this is unified rome btw) at the time. He didnt want attack rome just yet so he didnt send an assassain. But his rating among the senate was i thimk 2 under max when he had around 50 provinces.
So either the senate is totally unaware of the threat of their pending doom or 1.2 just messed it up.

80 provinces? Erg- so far it looks like it could be a bug.

But come on: I take it everyone else is experiencing the Senate outlawing them appropriately? Or maybe doesn't care? :sad

C'mon, you've all played the game, I'd like to gather more evidence that I'm not alone in this expereince- or maybe I am... comments about this? Don't you too miss the senate making trouble for you a little too early in the game to increase the fun/difficulty?

And you both missed the point. Didn't bother to read what I was asking? The point is that the senate should apply more and more pressure on YOU as the game goes- you shouldn't be just able to decide at your liesure when you want to attack, meaning only once you're ready. It should be a balancing act between expansion and senate demands.

This USED to happen in v1.0-1.1- but it seems like it got broken. The senate doesn't initiate outlawing you anymore at the proper time.

I got outlawed just around when i only had like 30 provinces. What did is, i kept following the senate missions, up to the point where i was very popular with the people of rome, then i started ignoring the senate missions, when i felt powerful enough. I think the senate is coded in such a way, that you need to be a threat (army size/money/land owned) to the senate and have a high popularity with the people and also have the last of the senate missions failed.

Either way, after 1.2 patch, the senate does feel a bit different.

Well whatever changed, I really miss the old senate that outlawed you when you were about 70% completed toward your goals- it made the endgame SO much more fun. Don't like that they don't much outlaw you until you have only 1 province to go. That unpredictable moment was fun to approach in the old game.

what is "your secret" that they always threaten to reveal? I've always bowed in to their wishes

Things like you bow down to others in reverse... so you gain a bad trait I think. Stuff like that.

I've noticed the "kinder, gentler" Senate as well. I still get the occasional "we're going to go over your books" or "we'll reveal your secret", but by the time they get around to outlawing me, it's too late.

I so dearly wish there was an easyfix for this.

Wish I knew what the descr_senate.txt coefficient's and border to attiotude numbers did... if anything. I chanegd them and it seems nothing happened.

Yes, IMO this is broken in 1.2. I don't know if this is a "feature" or a bug. We never know these days.

I must say that before 1.2 I finished 2 Roman (scipii/julii) large campaigns and never got outlawed... From my perspective (though it's probably a concidence) the Senate plays better after 1.2....

Hey... anyone know if this has changed with the 1.5 patch to be more of a challenge? Do they outlaw on the Imperial Campaign earlier now?
