Default converting stationary artillery to horse artillery

    Hello all,

I own the SF edition, and I really wish the Ottoman Organ Guns would some horses so I can cart them around and wreak havoc. It would also be great, although it's not particularly important, for the Ottoman 64 lbers to also be transportable.

Is there a way to mod this into the game? I looked at some values using PackFile Manager and changed some stuff, but have been unsuccessful thus far. Is there an "unknown" tab in the PackFile Manager that regulates this stuff that I just haven't discovered yet? I've already fiddled with adding known entries by copying and pasting from one horse artillery to Ottoman Organ Guns with no success.

    main.pack\db\units_stats_land_tables\units_stats_land.

There are 3 columns that appear to have to be filled for the artillery to not be fixed : Carriage Battle Entity ; Ammo Battle Train Entity ; Limber - just copy and paste from another artillery.

Giving them horse artillery is pretty obvious - there is a column Horse Artillery? You may also want to change the column Is Slow Moving? to true so they are like other artillery

    Hmmm...

I just noticed the reply. I tried what you did, but no horses appear. I do get the button to hook/unhoook artillery from the mounts though. Just no horses.

What else could possibly be needed? Animations perhaps?

Yes - there is probably some animation - generally one of the first 15 columns - you will need to change, just look at other horse artillery, and see what there animations are like, and change yours accordingly.

Starting at column 15 (the column labeled Horse1) enter these entries:

    Column 15: horse_artillery
    Column 16: horse_medium
    Column 17: mount_horse
    Column 18: 5
    Column 19: 1
    Column 20: gun_train_6_horse
    Column 21: ammo_caisson_small
    Column 22: limber_model

@ the_vicar: I've tried that earlier, and it doesn't work. The button to limber/delimber guns from carriages appear, but the actual models are still absent.

@ Irmo: I've looked at the columns, and I don't see any animations that pertain to the horses or gun carriage limbering. I did see combat animations, and I tried changing one of those, but it didn't work. Would there be another table somewhere that holds the horse animations instead?

Has anyone at all figured out how to add horses/carriages to immobile artillery?

    the models are absent?

    that is indeed strange.

look at the GunIDRef column in unit_stats_land. Remember the entry. Look up the row for that entry in gun_types. Change column 2 from artillery_fixed to artillery_siege.

Otherwise, I'm not sure why it's not showing up.

you could consider cloning a 12-lber or something, and changing the GunIDRef column to the big gun that you want. Of course, you'd also have to change all the models and such to be what you want.

i think you should be happy that you can move them...................

Hmmmm...I'm starting to think that's the SF units can't be manipulated with the packfile manager.

Tried what you said, but I still got organ guns without horses, even though that de/limber button is still there. Thought I'd finally get it when you mentioned gun_types, but no, it didn't work out in the end.

I'll try cloning a 12-lber later and changing the GunIDRef and models, but I'm not too optimistic if it'll work...unless one of the Unknown columns happens to be the magic ticket.

I'm surprised though that no one else wants to do this or was curious about it...

Alright. Let me actually look into it instead of just spouting suggestions.

    Be right back.

EDIT: No ideas. It looks like you're right. The horses don't show up. This works for every other gun in the game. I guess I don't know what the problem is.

Anyone know how to fix this yet? I tried to give horses to the Ottoman Organ Gun but ran in to the same problem with no appearing horses.

Going to bump this in the hope that someone might shed some new light on it.
