Curial Commentary ThreadThe Curia recommends the creation of a stickied Curial Commentary Thread in the Questions & Suggestions forum, where Peregrini can share their opinions about current Curial matters and proposals. The thread could be moderated by anyone the Hexagon Council finds suitable.

Okay, so this proposal is probably superfluous, but I can't think of any other way to get this through. First off, there's already a Curial commentary thread created by Shyam here. If this decision is passed, someone could just sticky it, but that thread contains a lot of offtopic/outdated comments, so the best would be to create a new one and sticky it. As of now I'm not sure what will be the fate of the opening of the curia idea and how it will work out. The main objection to that bill is that non-citizen members can already share their thoughts in the Q&S. This decision offers a quick and effective solution to this problem, namely to involve non-citizens somehow in Curial matters, because hearing new voices and new ideas can't hurt anyone, but it can be refreshing indeed. This would be a thread, where regular members could offer their opinion about Curial matters and proposals. It would also be a symbolic gesture in the endeavor trying to bring together the citizen and non-citizen classes of the site, because sometimes those entrenches can really be annoying for both sides. It's a win-win situation, "we" get new ideas, useful or less useful comments, "they" get the possibility to get involved. The first post of the commentary thread should practically point out that posting should be restricted to current Curial matters and proposals, and not the role of the Curia or citizenship in general. The thread could be moderated by anyone Hex finds suitable.

I honestly ask every citizen to consider the benefits and the good intention of this proposal.

    Possible objections:
    • "Yes, but there's already Curial commentary thread, where they can post, if they are interested." - True, but if it isn't bumped up regularly, it will be soon lost in the fathomless abyss of the Q&S. Hence the sticky.
    • "The Peregrini don't care about Curial matters." - unnecessary generalization, there are "curially" active and passive members alike.
    • "It would cause more problems for moderation." - not any more than the Q&S already has. A moderator designated by Hex can keep track of all the comments and make sure the thread doesn't disintegrate.
    • "We already have 7 stickies there." - So? Let's make the 8th one.

    Who would moderate it?

Well, if that's the problem, I volunteer as a local mod. If that wouldn't solve things, well, I guess regular mods and admins could moderate it, just like the other Q&S threads. Or maybe the Curator should be given local mod powers there. Plenty of possibilities.

Support. I think deciding who moderates it, if anyone additionally, is a matter for Hex. Inclusion of a moderator for it in this bill creates a window for a possible veto since moderation rights in the Q&S are sternly observed. Tribunes are vested with this power. If we feel we need moderator(s) expressly and only for the moderation of the Curial Commentary Thread, I'd suggest tacking on a few possibilities of where they could be drawn from, and letting that decision fall to Hex.

There will be no Peregrinii infidels in the Curia. Never! We have destroyed two tanks, ten fighter planes and two helicopters. We have driven them back. I am not scared, and neither should you be!

Support. A sensible measure I believe. I'd rather favour this than opening the Curia to all the Peregrini.

A sensible idea to see what the rest of the site thinks about the various things we do.

I am offerring my support as well.

As to moderating, I suppose Hex and Senior Staff could do it, just like any other thread. Hopefully, there won't be need for much moderation in the commentary thread.

Have you seen the Tribunal commentary thread?

    Thanks everyone for the support.

@Augustus: thanks for the input, I amended the first post with the following sentence: "The thread could be moderated by anyone Hex finds suitable." Should that be in the text of the decision as well?

EDIT: okay did it for the sake of clarity. ˇˇ

Depends. Only the text in the fieldset will be voted on though. In the case you edit that, people will have to reaffirm their support.

Of course. But what would lead you to believe that a Curial Commentary would require as much moderation?

I understand Hotspur's concern. The Tribunal Commentary has been the witness to many incidents. I also think the audience and tone of that thread is different, since the posts are related to Tribunal cases where people got infracted and their appeals were turned down in some cases, which resulted in frustrated or indignant posts, flames, or even worse, in the direct insulting of the Tribunes / other members. I think both the audience and the tone of a Curial commentary thread would be much different, since regular members are not directly affected by most Curial decisions or not in a way Tribunal cases affect them.

I shall support. The peregrini can have a say without having posting rights in the Cvria, which is a good thing in my opinion.
