Θ-2 days ago, Earth day was celebrated. What does it mean to you?-Θ

Earth day again this year.

Seeing that it doesn't actually mean nothing to anyone, (hence the fact that no threads are around) I took the liberty of making one, just so there is a place that we can discuss about what I perceive to be the single greatest danger we face: The slow but sure destruction of our planet by our own hand. Think about it. More people, less resources, worsening environment... where will that lead us?

You may call the above statement pessimistic beyond reason. In any case, this has been spoken by many people, scientists included, I am just copying it down. The fact of the matter is that the more concerned we become the easier it will be in solving.

What do you think? If you perceive that the threat is real (which I sincerely hope you do), what would you do about it? What must be done?

Oh, I mean, yeah, I saved the planet and stuff, recycled, licked oil off pelicans, saved baby seals, rescued endangered tigers, that sort of thing...

edit:off topic, but that pig in the sig above me is really freaking me out...

I beleive the threat is real and the thing Im doing about is not buying a new car until a car company can bring out a full electrical powered vehicle that is mass produced. That is the only way that I think that I can protest to the corporate polluters out there.

After watching the documentary Who killed the electric car? I was really effected by it - first time it hit home that we have possible solution to cut pollutants in the environment but the idea was squashed by the big motor companys and the oil industry for the sake of the dollar - not thinking about the children of the future.

If there are any other ideas out there that people are doing as their liitle protest I would be happy to know about them and hopefully adopt them.

I also wanted to add that seeing that the world is in such a mess at the moment economically - it would be the best time to rebuild and bring in reform to the High Pollutant Corporations. Great time to start again - Time is our enemy here and how we use it in the next 10-15 years will be detrimental to the human race and mother earth.

If we dont have a planet to live in where will we be able to play Total War?

Obviously it will lead to war. My Lord finds it strange that you Humans always bring up climate change as your primary reason to conserve resources and switch to renewable forms of energy.

My Lord can only hope you Earthlings do adopt this "green" technology. He will not invade a nuclear wasteland.
