Default Generation Chickenhawk: Draft pro war "students"

Regarding the undercurrent amongst several young republicans who support the wars in iraq and afghanistan and yet arent willing to do their bit and help out.
they lack the courage of their convictions, just like a certain dick cheney once lacked. i suppose you could call these individuals...cheney-lings:

so, are you going to fight? or are you going to pull a tom clancy and spawn horrible horrible "technothrillers" imagining yourself as a superhero soldiers

FYI... Some of us who support the war HAVE joined. Just so it's clear we're not all full of like those people.

FYI#2... The SDS is just as bad.

*eyeroll* here we go with this nonsense argument again...you do realize alot of people who do (and are eligible) support the conflicts do in fact join the military, several of who are/were members of this forum. And what about people who arent eligible due to age, injuries or other issues? Should they keep their opinion quiet simply because they arent capable of actually performing? And finally the argument itself is as senseless, I fully support the NY Yankees winning the world series for example but doesnt meant Im capable of helping them or that they want me...so should i not be a "fan"? I also support stem cell research...dont think you want me in a lab somewhere twiddling with it however.

Why dont antiwar people (you know the ones who go on and on how US is evil but Saddam wasnt so bad cause he gave people health care) go and join up and fight the EVIL IMPERIALISTIC power that the US suppose is? Take to the hills of Afganistan antiwar people!

I guess you have a little confusion there what Anti war and Anti American actually means and where the two start to diverge. A small hint: Anti war people don't want that anybody fights. Them joining the Taliban would be diametral opposite to where their positions and convictions are.
"Sebaceans once had a god called Djancaz-Bru. Six worlds prayed to her. They built her temples, conquered planets. And yet one day she rose up and destroyed all six worlds. And when the last warrior was dying, he said, 'We gave you everything, why did you destroy us?' And she looked down upon him and she whispered, 'Because I can.' "

Actually no Im not since if you have seen any of the antiwar protests Im talking about they are neither anti violence or anti war...its why I left the statement open. Little tough to have credibility of being antiwar if one cheers death of soldiers. So no Im not confused, I just pay more attention to what alot (not all) of the protesters actually do/say. If you doubt it go check out antiwar protests on youtube.

I have been a protester, and do know that it is possible to support the soldiers but not the war. Not everyone "cheers death of soldiers".

OP: This is too much of a generalization.

EDIT: I just saw your last two sentences. Yeah. Well, anyway, I still think what I said needed to be said anyway

Oh of course and didnt mean to suggest otherwise. I was simply going to the opposite end of the stupid stick to get a point across in regards to the op. That cant make generalizations (about either side of the issue) since there are indeed many people who did join the military because they supported it, some on this site. Plus the added fact that just because one supports something doesnt mean they can or have to actively engage in it.

So hope didnt take offense at antiwar comment, it was meant to get a point across. Clearly one can be against the war and not against soldiers or other such absurdity its just those minority elements of antiwar protests (be it ANSWER or Code Pink) are the loudest and hence get the most exposure. If I was an antiwar protester Id actually get annoyed that these morons hijacked the debate from intelligent opposition to "american soldiers are baby killers, saddam rules cause everyone got free dental and electricity". The media however so loves the clowns, be it right wing or left wing ones.

Young "liberals" who wank to Olbermann every night piss me off just as much as college republicans.

IDK, why would they not instead fight in Columbia or Mexico? That's where some socialist battleground are now. It makes no sense for a "noble liberal" or whatever the hell they think themselves to compromise their values and give their life simply for being "anti-war". That's if they're not pacifists to begin with.

Honestly I think the problem here is young people in the west. They are goddamn spoiled and so have no sense of duty. To them, commitments are freely negotiable, often because they are only taken at face value.

Even Rome drafted their young nobles and gave them shining careers as Tribunes in brutal wars away from the comfort of rome. Young Republicans hate fighting for their fathers corporations.

Well, I'm not republic, and I'm not democrat, but this argument is stupid. It's the same as all the annoying folks that whine about not sending aide to Africa and that we need to help our fellow man etc., etc., yet those same people (for the most part) are going to college and NOT *gasp* helping solve the problem they so constantly complain about, such as doing something as simple as doing a stint in the peace corps. I guess they shouldn't have an opinion then. I'm afraid the pendulum swings both ways.
