I just completed turn 55 in a short campaign playing the English faction. The French were expected to hold out longer than they did due to an unexpected family death in Zaragoza. I captured Marseilles and Toulouse and wham!!! The garrisons in Bordeaux and Zaragoza plus the stacks in Zaragoza go rebel. The French faction is destroyed and the victory conditions have been met. The English hold the Isles plus all of the usual French regions except those noted below. They are supreme in power and have high reputation with all allies.
The crusade on Tunis will end in glory the next turn as the English settle the siege of the castle. My diplomat has just completed the acquisition of Dijon from my loyal ally, the Milanese in gratitude for coming to their aid against the French. They and my other loyal ally, the Danes, are also at war against the excommunicated Holy Roman Empire.
I am torn between continuing and ending the campaign. If I were to continue, I would be tempted to trade Tunis for Metz to complete the frontier defenses on the eastern side of the empire and then look to acquire the rebel "French" provinces before beginning a campaign to unite the Iberian Peninsula under English rule.
So the obvious question is whether to push on or not. I do not really want to know what I should do so much as what you would do playing this as a campaign game.
Comments and questions are always welcome.
Regards,
VP
