In my opnion waterboarding is not that much different than when I get my head stuck in the sleeve of my shirt when trying to put it on: I freak out but nothing ever could really happen (there's always accidents however, I'm sure someone has died putting their head in the wrong shirt hole). If we stop torturing, people will not return in the favor and stop torturing Americans, they don't care.

I can confirm Waterboarding was used by the Japanese on POW and it was dealt with, as a warcrime under the Geneva Convention.

I dont know the actual results for those accused though.
