Default Gordon Brown's very big plot

I had my suspicions since day one but have withheld comment until the inevitable conclusion.

As you may recall the Met killed a person during G20. Shortly afterwards we heard that an anti- terror operation had to be accelerated because Bob Quick, the UK's senior counter-terrorism officer had inadvertently flashed secret details to the press. This was the bloke who said of the Conservative Party in the aftermath of a trumped up anti-terror raid on a Tory MP " (the) Tory machinery and their press friends" were seeking to disrupt the leaks inquiry "in a wholly corrupt way".

There then followed the arrests of 11 Pakistani nationals and one Brit. One was let off straight away. All 11 of the remaining have now been released without a single charge, although immigration officials may have an interest in these individuals.

Until the press cottoned on that the Police had actually killed poor Tomlinson, the raid managed to distract people from the goings on at G20 for a short while. for example, Gordon Brown said
"We must remember the context of this. We are dealing with a very big terrorist plot. We have been following it for some time. There were a number of people who are suspected of it who have been arrested. That police operation was successful. " Only when the media realised what really happened at G20 did the scales fall off their eyes. I note that most newspapers have busily deleted articles covering the raid from their websites the usual course when they know the game is up.

    As Jilted John said.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...g-1666369.html

Despite days of searches of at least ten properties and the huge resources thrown into the case costing millions of pounds the police did find any evidence of a terrorist plot. Not even an e-mail.

We Brits were told of, or indeed promised a massive and imminent terror plot. For example the Daily Telegraph headline; "Al-Qaeda terror plot to bomb Easter shoppers An al-Qaeda cell was days away from carrying out an "Easter spectacular" of co-ordinated suicide bomb attacks on shopping centres in Manchester, police believe.

No evidence had been found of bombs, bomb-making parts, chemicals to make explosives, a bomb factory, weapons or ammunition, anything required to "carry out an "Easter spectacular" of co-ordinated suicide bomb attacks on shopping centres" although sugar was seized as evidence. My office tea club contains an arsenal of the stuff, LOL!

Despite the involvement of someone who seems outrageously close to New Labour , or at the very least dislikes the opposition, I won't say that the raid itself was politically motivated. The Guardian mentioned this morning that MI5, the Met and GMP were split on whether to go ahead and only decided to do so on grounds of public safety. Clearly their intelligence was premature, or just crap so I can't blame them for that.

However, the manipulation of the media by the police and the obvious lies of the PM certainly was politically motivated, and only serves once again to undermine what many people see as a politicized police force.

Senior police figures may have their own agenda for drawing attention away from the difficulties of policing public demonstrations and towards anti-terrorism (however real it is or isn't). The police dislike bad publicity as well.

Good post. They had no evidence on the men from the very start. According to press reports, not a single one of the young men arrested had an previous convictions for any kind of crime, they were all here to study and most of them worked part-time jobs on top of their studying. None of them had a history of extremism, yet Brown felt justified in describing the story in the way that he did. Smith was also hyping it up.

And yet what evidence do they actually have? Nothing, except some of the men were seen taking pictures in a shopping centre.

There were no explosives found, no detonators, no anything. Just lies and spin and misdirection.

Tanks parked at heathrow airport is always a favourite ZanuLabour tactic to divert attention away from their transformation of Britain into a third-world basket case.

Expect them to fabricate another "terrorist threat" in order to indefinately postpone the election and invoke the civil contingencies bill.

That last billboard reminds me of those in the film Children of Men. As far as I remember, those in the film also had the words "suspect" and "report".
