Just noticing that the Euro seems to be stronger than pound at this point, so we may as well get in there while the goings good. That was after all the original idea.

Its a question of independence really aswell. Sure the Euro is strong now, but when the crisis turn you might aswell go up faster than they do.
Whilst smaller curencies often are more resilient and adaptable, it might be that the UK's economic dependence on the financial sector would make joining the euro a good move. We're always going to be a little bit at the mercy of the winds of economic change whilst we stick to the pound. Besides, it looks like the euro might become the international oil trading currency before so very long. If it does, I want in on all that free money when the value of the euro scyrockets.
No. Why should we hand over our fiscal control to Europe.
Why would I want to use Monopoly money

Know where you're going in life . . . you may already be there!
Every europeanīs forefathers lost their blood in fights for freedom and independence, just to see their heirs throwing all that into a blue european trash can. Itīs shame.
Actually, joining the Euro while our currency is in a weakened state would probably be worse for us. If you want to go into the single currency, you're better off doing it while your own currency is in a half decent state. We would still be better off having the stronger currency though.
Likewise, as you'd lose your own central bank's ability to control interest rates, it would cause a hike from 0.5% to something along the lines of 2% or so (I can't remember what the European rate is right now, iirc it was 2.5%, might have come down a bit though).

I'm sure they will level out at some point, that would be the best time to join.
