Barbarian Invasion mod? I'm not familiar with it. Are you referring to Invasio Barbarorum II? If so, which units exactly are you referring to?

Oh boy. Prepare to acquaint yourself with the dreaded modeldb, waraelm.

Basically, start by going to the data/export_descr_units.txt of the Invasio Barbarorum II mod. Scroll through it and search for the entry of the Roman unit you would like to import into Stainless Steel. Once you've found its entry, copy it and proceed to paste it at the bottom of the Stainless Steel export_descr_units.txt (note: you will need to balance the unit's stats yourself). In the unit's entry, you will see a line that reads 'ownership'. Ensure that "byzantium" (no quotations) is one of the owners of this unit.

Now comes the hard and CTD-ridden part.

You will need to go to the data\unit_models section of both mods and open their battle_models.modeldb (preferrably with Notepad++. It's a godsend). Using the data/export_descr_unit.txt for reference, find the Roman legion's unit entry in the Invasio Barbarorum modeldb. A single entry in the modeldb looks like this. Similar to before, copy this entry and paste it at the bottom of your Stainless Steel modeldb.

Once you have done this much, I will continue (or you may very well pick up the rest through trial and error ).

It would be my guess that the SS EDU is at the limit, so you will likely have to remove units first...

I'd do it a different way because I am intrinsically lazy

Just change the models, textures and anims of the units of the current rosta to reference those of the the new units in battle_models.

Then change the EDU entries to match the new models.

Then change the descriptions to match the new models.

Then change the EDB to match your view on which building should produce each unit (or even better, use EDB as a guide for 'which unit will replace which other unit' in the first place if possible).

Do it this way and you will have avoided removing any units or adding any entries to battle_models and all the extra work that goes along with that (syntax errors in bm.mdb, descr_rebel_factions, descr_sm_factions, campaign script, descr_mercenaries, descr_strat, etc.)

    Copy and paste FTW
