It's more difficult to keep track of what units are where in the heat of battle without them.

It's wonderful
But if you want a quick overview, zoom out and press ctrl+A (marks all your units) Then your units will be lighter in color than the enemies, and you get a nice overview of your units vs the enemies
You can put banners back on in your prefrence file, just change it from FALSE to TRUE.
well actualy i think is better this way look much more realistic! i dont like units banner flooting around. Anyway its easy to keep track of ur units. You can always hit the pause button lol.
this mod is based on realism, so not knowing where your units are is realistic and is a good feature of the mod. you can always turn them on if you find it to hard.
‡Peace on earth - Death to the Enemy!‡
I always found all this unecessary. The banners were distracting and took much of the atmosphere of the battle. It's far more intense to try to keep all your men together in massive battles when there's chaos everywhere you look. Those banners probably help to prevent mistakes like a group of Hastati pursuing a fleeing enemy while your wing starts to collapse on the other side and you don't notice it. A flashy banner would help there, right, but I never missed them much. You get used to it in no time
with a bit of practice you'll get used to what the units look like anyway, i know when i started i couldn't keep track of anything but i got used to it
@suspect_2 - the running off of units and not noticing it is fairly realistic, it's something many commanders down the ages have had to deal with - notable examples are harold at the battle of hastings, napoleon at the famous british victoy and many more
I meant like you gave them the order to attack, the enemy flees and they run after them while you would have much better uses for them than chasing after 10-20 scared enemies, but you don't even notice they started pursuing the enemy. I might misunderstand you but "running off" sounds like fleeing to me.
no i meant when they give chase to units, but i can see how you thought that
You will get used to not having these banners and when you do get used to it you 'll just love it because it gives you a feeling like your actually in the campaign your self. That is what it does to me. It adds reality to the game.

It sometimes nice to know exactly how many units are taking part in a brawl and where they are positioned within the brawl, so I can move more troops in or remove some that are in danger of being slaughtered if necessary.
As long as you don't have any fancy custom formations you should be aware of which units are standing where+what their status is. It's an experience thing when to do what, but after a while you get the hang of it and feel when to give the right orders. Maybe try some custom battles without the banners first and see how it goes. In the end it's your game and you can play however you like it. If you like the banners, keep them
Hey, sort of half-on-topic, turning the banners on and off doesn't meddle with the saves, does it? As in I could turn mine off tomorrow and keep playing the same game.
yes you can, the stuff in the preferences file is all changeble without having to abandon your savedgame
cnaeus,
Challange Macedon, and die trying
If you want to keep track of your units group them. But it is not necessary to remove the banners. Your free in this choice, it only changes your visual view.
