Are you kidding me? Of course he is. Even the jail clothes are better than most of the clothes he's been wearing throughout his life so far.

Besides, he escaped a life of absolute misery, and now he's in a country where the corrections departmen receives 100 times more money than his country's GDP. His food is secure, he has shelter, new friends, what more could a guy like him want?

With a little luck, and a amoral lawyer, he'll be out in 5 years or so, ready to enjoy his new home away from home.

tbh it doesnt matter to me if this kid is 16 or 18. he is still old enough to know what he is doing and therefor old enough to be held accountable. while he has my sympathy two wrongs dont make a right. he has put the lives of people who where just trying to earn a living at risk

Being a teenage (16-18) that is living in the worst possible country in the world. I dont think he even know what crime is, considering that Somali has no law, police and the fact that people get shot everyday. People have starved to death and died in numerous others way around him in his whole life.

How can you expect him to care for trying to hostage an american?
