The men enjoy food and wine to the wee hours of the morning celebrating their victory in Brandenburg. The sun rises and so does the General.
General Stadelmann tells his bodyguards to round up the men and have them meet me in front of the armory. The men all gather in a line facing the General, The women and children of Brandenburg gather together as they are just as curious to find out what the General has to say.
General Speaks:
Soldiers, you are a wing of the army of Prussia. You are about to undertake a conquest of which the effects upon the civilization and commerce of the world are incalculable. We will Invade Dresden! But woe, eternal woe, to those who take arms in favor of the Saxons and fight against us! There will be no hope for them; they will perish!
The people of Brandenburg cheer and celebrate as the General gives his final speech
General Speaks:
Today is the day that god sets judgment on our enemies. Bring out the enemy so they may fight and die with dignity.
The women and children go back inside while 200 enemy infantry are lined up. General decides that the routing Calvary will be the first to battle the enemy.
General:
Bring the Cowards to battle! Battle's bring out the best in men, and the worst in men. They
bring out the courageous of men, and show
the cowards running to the hills or the tree line. Then those who did not wish to stay fled the battle. You shall not die from the rope; you shall fight for your right to live
120 men from the 5th Calvary Regiment who fled to the tree line where brought to face 200 men from the enemy who where given the chance to die with dignity rather than be burned alive. All the men moved outside the fort for the last battle at Brandenburg.
The Calvary was able to keep their horses as they were outnumbered. As the troops begin to cheer the battle begins with the Calvary charging the infantry units from Saxony. The infantry bunches up in a tight group as the Calvary charges. One by one the cowards fell to the ground and they started to run to the tree line. The General orders his Line Infantry to open fire on the cowards and within minutes they all were dead.
Generals Bodyguard:
Sir there are at least 100 enemy men left what do we do with them?
General:
They fought a battle and won! Not one of them tried to run like the cowards. Take them back to the fort. Feed them and let them lose without any weapons, clothing or food and water. Release them two days after we leave the fort.
The General prepares his men to leave the fort onwards to Dresden.
Within a few days they reach the town of Dresden.
Word had spread to the Ministers and the Monarchy that Brandenburg was free of any enemy forces and is in control of General Stadelmann’s army. The port is operational and trade routes active again.
Ministers to the Monarch:
Are trade routes are now operational but I have a report that three of our most profitable trade routes are being raided. Ships boarded off the coast of Madagascar, Ivory Coast and a land route trading with the Mughal Empire
Elisabeth:
Do we know who is raiding the trade routes?
Head Minister:
Yes we do it is Portugal on the sea routes and we are sending a Rake to see who is blocking the land route.
Elisabeth:
Have you tried a peace treaty with Portugal?
Head Minister:
We have tried everything with them but they seem to only want one thing, our trade routes and technology. They are allied with Great Britain and at war with Austria our long time allied friends.
Elisabeth:
Send a messenger to Lisbon to King Joao V with this message;
Greetings from Elisabeth Charlotte 1; you are to release our trade ships immediately. Blocking our trade routes is an act of war and you will be severely dealt with if this continues. You are to sign a peace treaty immediately or face the consequences of denying our request.
Head Minister:
Your Excellency Great Britain will counter by blockading our ports and trade routes if we go to war with Portugal. Our fleets were heavily damaged by Saxony when they took Brandenburg. We do not have the ships or manpower to counter their ships.
Elisabeth:
Order all available ship builders to Rostock and have them work day and night preparing our fleets. We are going to war with Portugal. Send a messenger to London and offer Queen Victoria a State Gift and technology for their signing of a peace agreement.
Meanwhile General Stadelmann and his army have reached Dresden. Fresh snow is on the ground and it is getting late. The General orders his men to setup camp we will not be hitting Dresden tonight. A Rake shows up at the Generals quarters.
General:
I want you to go into Dresden and report back to what you see. I want every enemy unit the Saxons have reported back to me. No room for error or you will pay the price. Stay in the shadows and I want you to report back here before dawn.
The next morning comes and the Rake reports back on what he has found
Rake:
General they have mostly town folks armed with one regiment of Calvary in Dresden around 7oo in town. I overheard numerous times that they have reinforcements coming from the north. Town folks are talking about a new General on his way with numerous regiments of Calvary. This new General is fond of Calvary and has been known to join the battle from the start. The people of Dresden speak highly of this General. They say he has balls of steel.
General:
We will see what a cannonball to the family jewels does to his
balls of steel.
Early morning comes and the General prepares his troops as he worries about the reinforcements to the north. He sets his regiments up facing both north and south to counter any attack from both the north and the south.
General’s bodyguard:
The town’s people are moving out of the city towards us. The reinforcements are coming from behind the town’s people. Should I order the cannons to fire?
General:
Town’s people are moving on us? Have the regiments pointing towards the north come in and face the south. Have them ready to Melee the town folks. Send the Calvary in after they reach each other. Get the cannons ready to fire with canister after we take out the town mob. Save the canister for the reinforcements.
The General cannot believe the town folks are moving out of Dresden. His strategy included charging the city and taking out the armed mob before enemy reinforcements reach Dresden. The General got of his horse and just stood there looking at the mob coming his way. He orders the cannons to fire on the town mob. Prussia’s infantry reaches the town mob and they start to retreat to the east. Enemy infantry reached the line at the same time Prussia’s Calvary reached the line.
The General did not expect the enemy reinforcements to move up as quickly as they did. Prussia’s Calvary was falling one by one.

General Stadelmann orders his Calvary to retreat back to the line and the cannons open fire with canister shot.
The enemy Calvary moved up to the line and Prussia’s cannons opened fire with canister shot. One by one the enemy Calvary turned and ran. The enemy General who apparently had balls of steel was hit by canister shot below the waist. General Stadelmann rode out with his bodyguards to the dead enemy General while the line infantry cleared the area.
General:
Well look at you now! You mess with the best and you die like the rest!
General Stadelman’s horse fell to the ground! Firing came from the nearby forest! The General got up and put his head on his horse. Stadelmann would often sleep with his horse and was known to talk to him daily.
General screamed:
Find then now! I want them brought to me alive! as he lay his head on his fallen horse.
The Generals bodyguards order the 15th regiment of Line Infantry into the forest to chase down the enemy who killed General Stadelmann’s horse. As they got close to the forest the enemy started firing on them. The General’s Bodyguards entered the forest and drove the enemy out. The Line Infantry entered the forest and lined up to shoot the fleeing enemy.
The Generals Bodyguards yelled:
Don’t shoot we want them alive by the order of the General.
The line infantry fires then charges the enemy killing almost all of them. Bodyguards yelled we want them alive kill the drummer and take the rest as prisoners.
