    They are melodic power death metal....aka as fake metal.

    And covers are done for various reasons. They dislike the song so they make a cover to make fun of it. Or they do it for fun. Or for thematic reasons. Or to pay homage.

    Surfin Bird cover (Note, this is actual metal, just to save this thread from the unfortunate title.)


    These Boots cover (Again, real metal. Not fake, pretend metal)

    On the wiki page...the only bands listed in links that I even think are good is...Swallow the Sun, Insomnium and Carcass (and they are mentioned as an inspiration for some bands only...)

    It isn't declining. It depends on where you live. Where I live, it is more underground than anything. But the Bay Area Thrash scene is kicking hard again with bands like Merciless Death and Warbringer, for instance.
