    Default question about flags

Are the bobbing flags going to be taken out, replaced by banners held by men in formation? I'm just curious. I really dislike the bobbing banners. They are an eye sore.

I doubt we're going to, but I recall there being a way of getting rid of them completely. Plus, if we were to replace them with a person, then that'd be one less soldier on the field.

In the Lord of the Rings, Third Age Total war mod they got rid of the bobbing flags and just added one more guy to each unit making him a banner carrier. So instead of 150 soldiers with a 150 unit count, their battalions now have 150 soldiers and 1 banner carrier with a 151 unit count.

Honestly though, I wouldn't care if the bobbing banners were kept, sure they can be annoying, but with all this mod is offering I doubt I'll care when it's released.

I personally think it is a good idea, but we are short on skinners and modelers, so I am not sure we will be able to do this.
(You only have to change the .cfg file to remove the default banners, but replacing them with standard bearers would require much more work.)

I think Deus Lo Vult and The Third Age already has this animation - Maybe they would share some of their work?

Isn't there a way to disable them in some options?

I do remember being an option for turning it off some way, but I really can't recall where. You might be able to find some more info in TWC University.

You add something to the .cfg to remove banners.

You can remove them yourself in preferences.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

There is an option in ETW, not in M2

However, if you do officially decide to remove them, are you intending on removing the button which flashes yours, the enemies and your allies' units? Because DHHR disables both (as far as I can recall), and I wasn't always able to discern friend from foe (but, this does have some interesting historical aspects, I presume, as soldiers did not carry a big English flag on their backs to signify they were english.)

There is an option in M2TW. In ETW, you can set the option directly from the game. In M@TW, you must edit the preferences.cfg text file outside of the game.

What about the mod kings banner? I can't remember if it is a stand alone mod or a sub mod of SS.

I think it's a stand-alone, but it does work with SS.

I play: Third Age, Broken Crescent, Stainless Steel
I wait for: Broken Crescent 1.5, The Last Kingdom, Dominion of the Sword
