Some Preliminary pics of flags we're working on for the update. Let me know what you guys think. These are definitely not final versions and I'd really appreciate feedback. This mod is for you guys.

I thing is a wrong flag for the first years of Monarchy in Greece (The above flag was used after 1870)
The below flag is more historical accurate (1833 - 1862)
or with this in the middle
Also after Greek War of Independence, Greece was a republic under London Protocol, Head of State was Ioannis Kapodistrias in 1827.....Monarchy came later (1832).
Respect for your work and thanx for the mod,
I waiting for the coming new version![]()
I realize Greece was a Republic after the Greek War of Independence (I'm Greek too), but for some reason, the game makes them start out as a Monarchy (stupid). Since this mod doesn't change gameplay, I merely changed the Greek Vanilla Flag to one of the first Monarch Flags. I will take your suggestion on the Monarch flag into consideration though.
Wowza. Very impressed. I did a quick search on Google, and the republic pirate flag came up as the flag of Anne Bonnie? Is that correct? If so, maybe you should go with a more generic flag... perhaps a variation of the ordinary skull and crossbones (which of course was actually flown by some pirates, but has become the generic pirate image). Its a very sticky issue since Piracy was never a unified nation lol, so I'm very much nitpicking.. but I guess I'd rather see a generic flag to represent a nation/people/whatever, than the flag of an individual pirate. If you like I could help with some suggestions, but I probably wouldn't be able to come up with anything super great. Perhaps a variation of your current flag; maybe put the crescent pattern in the upper left corner, and leave the rest black? Many pirates flew pure black flags, with no designs at all, so it could reflect that.
Anyways, looks awesome! Can't wait for the update.

Ya if you could come up with some ideas for Pirate Republic Flag that would be good. Another one I found that I sort of liked is this one:
That is the flag of the Gentleman Pirate Stedde Bonnet. Most Pirate Flags were personal, obviously, but this one I like, as well as Anne's. But ya go for research and let me know what you think! Would you want to be a researcher for the team Kippy?
I'd love to help out as a researcher!
I did a brief search and came across this flag:
This flag is attributed to Christopher Condent; I'm breaking my own rule of personal flags with this one, but I thought the multiple skulls-and-bones could be taken as a Republican image of inclusiveness... The flag is a little plain though..
I actually quite like the Stedde Bonnet flag as well... maybe a kind of conglomerate flag could be used to represent the pirates as a whole? Like say, take Stedde Bonnet's flag as a base, but photoshop Anne Bonnie's crescents instead of the heart or the other symbol, and add another pirate's symbol... this risks becoming very "busy" though. A lot of reoccuring symbols (besides the skulls and bones) are hearts and hourglasses.. I'm not sure what they're exact meanings are,(EDIT: I found an interpretation that says they aren't hourglasses but cups to toast death with, and that the hourglasses symbolize time running out for opponents... both quite badass, I might say) but some of the major pirates seemed to like them.
Also, a lot of the pirate flags I'm coming across in brief searches yield traces of red color that I think looks quite sharp against the black background along with the white highlights. Maybe if you kept Anne Bonnie's or Stedde Bonnet's, a couple emblems could be colored red?

Yes, but I don't think the Minor Nations Revolutions will work then, I'll probably have to make IS and Darth Friendly Startpos.esf for you guys so that we can have compatibility for the minor nations.
And Kippy, what about taking Stedde Bonnets flag as the base, coloring the heart red, and adding one of Anne's Stars instead of the left hand symbol?
I have quite a lot of high quality drum & fife. Its mostly Civil War era though but even still some of them quite familiar to a lot of people.
Just to name a few:

Wish I knew how to help you guys but I know jack about modding. I am a DJ though and know a lot about sound editing etc.
Can you do a realistic version of the spanish flag?
Spain didn't have a true national flag till the 19th century. I am going to change the vanilla flag to possibly look like this, which was the Royal Standard of Spain for much of the 18th Century. The Burgundy Cross Flag was mainly used in Battles and as the Flag of New Spain:

Sounds awesome! Stedde's flag is really cool, and the star you're talking of adding could be the "Republican" facet of it. I think the red heart would look really sharp too (although you can make the final call on that; it might look out of place colored, in which case white would work better). Can't wait to see the mock-up!
Felipe V introduced a national flag, althought it was unofficialy used alongside the Royal banner before 1785 when the national flag became the one in the game. That above, not being the royal banner, it is the royal arms with the bourbon necklace and golden fleece, on a white background, which is the flag of naval bases... The Royal banner is red, the full royal arms being at the centre and without the borbourn necklace. You're right in the royal standard was used to represent Spain but Felipe introduced thr first national flag in the early days of his reign, it was the burgandy cross with a shield representing all spanish states ontop. The burgandy cross was indeed a battle flag and was also used to represent overseas territories.
Some Spanish Flag resources:

And is this the red-background flag you're referring to?
This is just straight from wikipedia, so not the greatest.

Sorry I mean 'with' the bourbon necklace.
Felipe's flag isn't anywhere to be seen unfortunatly, I am hoping to find one in spain one day
I made a representation though.
EDIT: That is the flag I refer to, yes. howveer the second link is not the national flag, it is the war ensign, according to that site anyway but I am more sure it was used for a section of the naval military.
You could use that, and the other one If I can find it. This part of spanish history is full of holes i am afraid, there were so many flags used and such variance.
