Controlling the world... What next?
Playing as Austria, I now either protect (11 protectorates) or own the world except being allied to England and Sweden and still at war with Moghul. What happens when I finish off Moghul and take out England and Sweden? Anything special? or do I need to take out my protectorates too? I wonder if there is anything special then also! LOL I doubt it. In fact, I am wondering if CA deliberately made the game buggy just so no one could finish?
In al seriousness though, has anyone else noticed Austria isnt ever taken seriously even after you wipe out a countries forces? I have had to use 20,000+ bribes, tech, and 2 provinces to get everyone to accept protectorship. Normally I just flat out conquer, but as my games always end with a fatal crash I decided to try not taking out so many nations. It seems to be working! I have played longer this time without yet getting a fatal crash. Makes me wonder if part of the Fatal Cras problem is a glitch not allowing too few nations... Hmmmmmmm...

Re: Controlling the world... What next?
Nothing happens. For me this is a bit of a problem with the game, I mean, once you've finished your grand campaign objectives (which can happen way too fast), you're left with like 80 years of not knowing what to do. The first time around you go through the tedious "conquer the whole world" thing because you wonder what happens (nothing), the second game you play you decide to sit back, but pressing "end turn" and watching the AI flags scroll by as they take their turns, for 150 turns, is pretty boring. To see the victory video, or just obtain a "victory", you have to preserve your objectives 'til 1799
They need to make attaining the objectives harder, and make it so that there's still something to do when you have them. Or make it so that you get your victory as soon as you complete your objectives (although in the current state of the game that means you'd pretty much never reach the later technology levels...) In my second game, when I had all my objective regions, I decided to "roleplay" and react to world events. Even then, I couldn't have fun because the AIs just sat there and did absolutely nothing interesting.

I've got that feeling right now. I finished my first campaign just as you said (after 48 years though, not 20), and now I have 50 provinces in 1725 on my second campaign. Why did they make it so you have to play until 1799! Garr!

I was kind of being a smarta$$...
I actually now control the whole world. I have all of my tech. I guess I could take out my 14 protectorates for something to do. The whole point is, what's the point? Personally, I would have thought they might have slipped in a world domination video as a surprise. Heck, even an early victory would be worth something.
You know, I only ever managed to take the entire Rome:TW map twice and never managed to do it in BI:TW or M:TW2 although I did it in all of the Kingdoms campaigns. The RTW map took me 2 weeks of almost continuous playing during uncoutable hours the first time and 3 weeks the second time. In ETW I can do it in 6 hours.
