I want to start a new campaign, and have narrowed it down to 3. But I cant decide which.
Any suggestions? Please say why.
Or can you give me any advice about playing as these factions.
Armenia
Pergamum
Seleucids empire

i said pergamum because they have a good economy and units
I'd say Pergamum too because of the economic position (take the islands too, massive income), nice units, I like their history, and they have a small empire which is challenging.

Pergamum offcourse, nice units. one city to start with so you can organise your empire from the start. and nice economics to start with. good luck my friend

Challange Macedon, and die trying
I also say Pergamum. Playing with them at the moment and I love it. Great economy, challenging Seleucid wars, and a great mixture of cavalry and spearmen. Lacks a bit of heavy infantry, but who needs those when you have phalanxes![]()

the seleucid are very hard because have big land.if you like pikes take seleucids, pergamum is good for expand and have good balanced units, armenia i dont have opinion.i chose pergamum but see chimerian and pontus if you like.good wars!!
I will go for pergamum. Then maybe after I complete that I will for 1 of the othersThanks for the tips

dont do the 1st for the others make the different(johny walker)
I say Armenia. It's a different style of warfare than the infantry dominated battleline of the other two choices and, as I think (or assume anyway) that most of us play factions like Rome or the Greeks, using a horse dominated culture in the mountains would be a new challenge.

The fact that Armenia, Parthia,... are horse dominated culture scares me off a bit. I think I wouldn't be able to manage them in, for example, besieging cities or fighting phalanxes.

I have actually tried both armenia and pergamum before, but not gone very far. I love horse archers, they are awesome! Cities arn't a problem, you get a decent phalanx unit that does the job.
I think you just have to look at it from an unconventional point of view from the mass melee battles that we are so use to with Rome and the Greeks. Horse culture faction's strength is in their range, speed, mobility and fast attack and retreat tactics.
With the phalanx it is an easy enough solution. Simply have enough heavy cavalry to route the enemy cavalry and swing your horse archers around the flanks and rear.
As for sieges, yes they would have a disadvantage in a frontal assault, so the trick would be to cancel that advantage. What I would do is attack at all four sides, or at least 3 sides, of the walls, thus dividing the enemy's defenders. When you start your attack, look for where they are committing the least amount of forces, then move all your cavalry to that point and overwhelm them quickly before they can be reinforced. Once you break through, you can now hit the rest of the defenders from multiple angles with your horse archer or take the fight to the town center where you can maneuver a little better. I might have to start an Armenian campaign now.

Some times I just send in a weaker force than the garrison so they sally.![]()
I voted for Pergamum because the Seleucids are a bit hard(you have to do mutch micromanaging because public order isn't good) and Armenia is a but too easy.I finished a parthian campaign once and it was fairly easy.Just recruited 4 catapract archers a few(2-3)catapracts or 4-5 light cavalry and I counquered half Iran.Ocupiing a city isn't hard too:just recruit a few mercenaries, brake the wall in 2 places and engage the enemy,....with some archer support you can easely defeat them.Or wait untill they come out and just shoot them.

Some people here make the fault to throw the Armenians and Parthians into the same batch. In contrary to the Parthians, the Armenians have fine infantry and early on to(eastern heavy phalanx: beats Seleucid/Pontic levy and normal phalanx + imitate legionaries). Parthia indeed is just HA tactics with lots of cannon fodder spear and hillmen.
Might try Armenia after I got bored of Pergamum and IF RS2 ain't out by then![]()

Both Armenia and Pergamum if you want a really challenging game, Seleucids if you like managing great empires from start (i suppose you've already played as Romans) and thinking more to better develop yourself instead of surviving in the first years!!
30BC: Ottaviano Augusto becomes the first Imperator, in his 44 years of principate he will bring to the empire peace and prosperity!
70AD: Vespasiano is the winner of first great empire's civil war, rebuilding Roman world after the Nero's dark ages.
98AD: Traiano becomes imperator after that the senateman Nerva adopted him,he will start a gold age for the empire getting it to biggest extension!! 117AD-180AD Adriano,Antonino Pio and Marco Aurelio administrate the empire during his richest and most pacific period, with their good administration Rome lives its golden age.
193AD: Settimio Severo wins the civil war started after the death of Commodo starting the Severan dinasty, his heirs will not be as good as him. 252-285AD Rome lives the peak of III century's crisis, onli the emperor Aureliano will be able to reunite the empire breacked in 3 parts and the great reformer Diocleziano will give to Rome militar, politic and social cohesion after decades of caos. 325AD:Costantino rules alone over the empire and christianity is for the first time accepted by the imperial government.
Dont make that mistake with the Seleucids, they are gutter-poor from the start, some regions hate your guts and want temples and stuff wile you dont got no money, many regions cant spit out quality soldiers and everyone is going to mess with you.
I played all factions and keeping the Seleucid empire together was the most challenging campaign without a doubt, but after managing to get a hold against all foes it does get allot easier, great fun though.
