What to do now........

Hi all, this is my first post on TWC....

Anyways, I have some questions about TLR, and what I should be doing now to get the best out of it.

I have just installed TLR 2.0 (It was included on this month's disc from PC Gamer and looked interesting). I have booted it up, started a campaign and played a couple of turns to check it works ok, which it seems to, so no problems there.

So now I'm looking for answers to the following:

1. Should I stick with 2.0 or should I now download 2.2?

2. If I should get 2.2, then A. Do I put it in the same directory as 2.0
and B. Do I need to download another version inbetween (2.1 or something like that)?

3. Can you tell me exactly what files I would need to tweak to make buildings etc. cheaper and quicker to build please? (I'm not ranting, but 3000 florins and 4 turns for dirt roads is going to destroy my economy.....)

Also, if there's anything more I should know with regards to all this, please let me know that as well.

2.3 is still being worked on by Condottiere SOG. Don't know when he'll release it.

I haven't been able to find a working link for 2.1 or 2.2, but from what I've gathered from these forums, it does seem to be a little unstable.

So yeah, wait for 2.3.

As for changing building costs, not sure since I don't mod myself, but I think the export_descr_buildings.txt file within your Long Road data folder should contain the information on building cost, and the means to change it.

Oh... I can't actually say for sure since I don't know, but seeing as almost nobody can find a working link to download 2.1 or 2.2, I'd say that 2.3 would be fine to patch on top of 2.0.

Hell, I remember reading that 2.2 was a fully standalone version, if 2.3 is the same, it's possible that 2.0 isn't even required at all.

2.0 was the original version that came out a couple of years ago... very playable IMO. I played it for a long time until i replaced my PC. The best advice on how to enjoy your game is that you should not blitz. Take your time with the game, and only conquer a province every 6-10 years. The pace is great when you do that. Also, enjoy the regional mercenaries that are available from the mercenary barracks system. There are quite a few of them, and they were originally intended to fill an AOR role. Have fun!
