I love CA, its the publisher, Sega, that is bad.
Steam is the most revolutionary thing to come to computer gaming since 3D graphics! Chat with friends, download demos, play games without the CD that you lost, what is the downside? Auto patching, its fine, but I don't hate ETW because of it.
You can't have a game that requires two years be done in one without shortfalls. CA may not have been able to find another publisher, so their only option was Sega. They put out ETW because of financial reasons along with many others. I am not saying CA is not totally to blame, just that they messed up, and in this instance alot. They also lied. But everyone makes mistakes. Sega, what they did is really, not nice.
And for those complaining about installing ETW through Steam, be happy it is Steam and not Games4Windows which is really killing the Dawn of War II multiplayer population.
Sega owns CA, so their options are somewhat limited.
The only thing bugging me about Steam is that I can't sell, lend or give away my game. That should be tried in court someday, if Valve doesn't change it.
Generally, while esp. the naval invasions bug makes the campaign rather pointless for now, I do not "hate" anyone. The game could have been great; it's decent, still.
absolute loser: I did buy a DVD in a store and installed it like any other game. Or what did you mean?

Uhhh, no. They could not have chosen their publisher more wisely.

I like CA they gave us some good games, Sega, well a publisher is a publisher.
Steam! It will become omnipitant and rule the gaming world.
Anyone who dared to moan at it, will be banned from games for life![]()

The thing i hate about steam is that we have to install it through steam, why not just use the disc and install normally like other games!
Where is the option for Sega on your poll?
Neither, there only human![]()
Soylent Green is people!!!
The only problem that I got with steam is that it doesn't always update on start, I blame CA for putting out a freaking unfinished game and they got the guts to ask 50$ for it while the game your supposed to get won't be finished for a whole year with all the patches and stuff.
Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.
My vote for both is a vote against Sega and Steam, not CA, but it was closest to my opinion.
That was a rather harsh poll
I dont hate either. I do dislike Steam, but see it as a superior alternative to DRM ala Securom and its ilk.
Sorry people hate is a pretty strong word, i should have used dislike instead
I said steam I hate the fact that the software I paid for is only rented by me and not mine to install and play as I see fit.
If steam goes under so does ETW and any other games that utilize it.
