Largest Population?
I've searched the forum, but can't see to find a thread on this.
Everyone post their largest population per region! Someone got 90 million is France due to completely forgetting about tax
Has anyone got any substantial population in mainland Europe, or the Americas, or more un-surprisingly, the Indias?

Re: Largest Population?
100+ million in France. I could keep it increasing at 4% if I give away my colonies in India, which are not really colonies any more since they have a higher population, bring in more money and have more land, and my last colony in America.

Re: Largest Population?
You dont really have to forget about france you can keep taxes mid range and just load up on farms and fishing fleets and by 1750 you will be very close to 100 million

Re: Largest Population?
Yeah, but I still want France to have a decent economy, so I don't want too many fishing ports. AFAIK, aren't there three ports in France (with one starting off as a village). So I left the the Dockyard and Trading Port as is, and when the one near where Toulouse would be grows out of a village, I make that a Fishing Port.
Continuing on this point, so as not to make a new thread, France has an Inn, School and Church School. Should I convert one of them into another School, or do the Church School and Inn become useful with the large populations that France has to deal with.
Also, I'm really interested in the Indian colonies, anyone got population numbers yet?

Re: Largest Population?
Here is what i have learned about being any European Power. Trade something to the dutch for there Indian island. Take it and use it to take control of a chunk of the spice and tusk trade ports. (i am not saying spam ships, but get an economy going.)
Then say screw Frances economy for now. Build nothing but farms, 1 church, perhaps a ironshop or something. Then once you get a good, population going, i find moving against indian territories because you dont lose relationship points with Europe for invading it.
Move against it, while moving an army of priests behind your army.
You will control India or a nice chunk of it by 1725. While you have been doing this if you have any brains you will have been moving some of your best troops and commanders against those god damed natives in north america.
You will have a nice economy soon, then you can raise taxes in france pushing TONS of people to move to north america and settle (more cash better economy)
Then i have always found facing down the brits in north america to be stupid. I just push a massive simultanious invasion against britan and spain leaving me control of India, Western Europe, And The french and native regions of north america.
Then it is simple to either make allies with the newly founded americans or crush them while the are weak.
By 1750-1775 it is easy to control NA, India, Western Europe and then procede to take over South America and a massive invasion into Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Ottoman Empire on all fronts.

Re: Largest Population?
France is really good at this, got 110 mil pop in 1748 (CTD in AI turn, controling much of North America and in Europe, my empire is from France to Lithuania and Besarabia (Spain, Sweden and Ottoman are allies) without any fishing fleets (I never build them
), taxing was lower or average thorough game as I needed money. I played them twice and I always started with demolition of an Inn and replacing it with school and asap to republic (around 1703 is normal...). Revolution is quick and without any problem.
My problem is that, for whole game, my workshops and weavers have been poor or very poor, also my Marseille port has been very poor in spite of fact that this port operated my biggest trade routes (Marathas and Ottomans). On the other hand, whole Germany, Poland and Netherlands are wealthy... quite strange... I really can not understand how town wealth works

Re: Largest Population?
i'm the guy who forgot about taxes but it was at 99.9 million in 1728.
I had done no research on farming or industry.
France is a economic machine.
