    Default Adding the "hire mercenaries" ability to diplomats?

    title says it all, i want to know if you can add hiring mercs as an action for Diplomats, in theory, if the diplomats can bribe, couldn't they convince mercs to fight for them? thanks in advance

    With my present knowledge of the internal functions of the game engine, I don't see how that could be possible unless the feature had been hard-coded into the game.

    Pretty sure such things are all hardcoded.

    Seconded.

    Theory doesn't work well when applied to Total War. Some things that should work practically(not even just theoretically), don't work. It never hurts to try, as you might find something intriguing architecturally, but by and large perceptive transferal of in-game functions doesn't work.

    You might be able to approximate it using a script, i.e., click button X with character selected brings up accept/decline event to hire Y mercenary when conditions are satisfied (e.g., in region A, diplomacy attribute of B) that then creates or spawns the unit at a location.
