    Default [France]Artillery recruitment issue

    I'm having a slight issue playing as France.

    I just upgraded to the final artillery school and thus I am able to recruit 24LB foot artillery. However, I can only recruit 4 of them. Now, that's not a real problem as 4 of them is what I use in my army setup.

    However, I am fighting on 2 fronts and my 2nd army suffered a major blow, loosing quite some units including its artillery. So, the 24LB has a maximum recruitment of 4, but 24LB replaced the 12LB foot artillery card as well. Hence...I cannot recruit foot artillery for my 2nd army anymore.

    Is this intended? I dont recall Great Brittain having a maximum on the 24LB units. And even if the limit on 24LB was intended, why the hell cant I recruit the 12Lb as well??

    that's definitely not supposed to happen, at least i don't think so.

    24 pound foot artillery isn't an elite unit...

    Yes, they are named as the guard artillery and as soon as I unlocked those, the 12LB foot arty disappeared from the recruitment tab.

    You should still have have the 24lb regular artillery though.

    12lb pound foot is replaced by 24lb foot.

    No it is not. Exactly the same thing happened when I played as France. I could only get the 24lb Guard arty, no ordinary 24lb. I just kept some cities with the earlier building and kept using the 12lb in most of my armies. Didnīt make that much of a difference.

    18 & 24 pounder Guard artillery are both limited to 4 units in the campaign.

    Lucky you, on my France campaigns I cant recruit ANY top level arty

    I have the highest level artillery building in my capitol Paris and just checked again what I can recruit:

    6LB horse artillery
    Puckelgun
    24LB guard foot artillery (max 4)
    24LB howitzer
    Mortar battery

    That's all I can recruit...so no 12LB foot artillery or no 18LB guard artillery.

    So I really dont get it...

    Howitzers and mortars aren't so bad

    No schrapnell or canister is a big problem . Howitzers and mortars are meant for different roles to field guns .


    That said : For the O.P. , I'd suggest splitting your current battery in half , substituting 2 howitzers in each army {for the 2 field guns you sacrifice} and adjust your tactics to suit {you can safely place those howitzers behind your troops and very close to them also} .

    I assume that you cannot produce the normal variety of field gun in any other province . Go to the modding forums and ask around , it is probably something easily fixed , though it might require starting a new campaign which would probably be rather anoying .
