Default Is anyone seriously expecting mod tools?

About a month and a half later, and CA still has their hands full just patching the game to a decent level. And J.Lusted said the one tool they did have has been far surpassed by the community ones. Is anyone really expecting them to give us some tools that will change the modding game completely?

Maybe in a few more months.... i expect them to give us information on how a lot of these files work though...

Lusted had said he had planned to give info on how the ESF works this week... but i guess he forgot, or decided against it?

I guess he didn't get around to it or the people he'd had to ask were unavailable/busy. He didn't forget it, you can be sure of that

And no, I don't really expect any very useful official tools. Documentation would be good, though.

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

I agree..Did the Developers (lusted in particular) not say that the only tools they have have already been outdone by community tools?

Yes I am expecting them and they are comming, well some tools, but what we need more is documentation.

Documentation is the thing, the tools can be provided by the community. Seriously, wtf do all these columns in the db tables do.

I have changed my turn towards this awhile ago, I hope more people can jump on board with this.

I mean the only thing we need is documentation, we can write our own tools, at last I think just almost has a model converter.

I actually have written a formal letter to CA, and failing that I am going to start a online petiton on one of those petition websites for documentation

The Community tools are fine. As has already been stated, what is necessary is documentation regarding specific 'logics', such as the way ships work and how the puckle gun is able to have a magazine. Other than that, values that haven't already been figured out is all we need (Aside from tools regarding models {and animations...I'm looking at you, Relic}).
Why do people post their computer specs in their signatures? Is your insecurity enough to warrant posting your specs in an effort to abate said insecurity? Really? No one cares.

Nope, never expected any tools. When i first read the whole tool thing from Sega/CA, i went Oh god here they go again about mod tools, same went for RTW, MTW 2 and now empire, they will never release tools, its always the same story. Only when Lusted joined CA, i noticed they released a CAS importer, As far as i know thats it. The community always produces the tools eventually.

I doubt we get an editor for the pack or db files, but I'm still expecting, or at least hoping for, an esf editor so we can do more with the map and starting positions.
