    Default Knights?

First off - amazing mod, it stole my easter from me. Much respect

OK so what is the deal with recruitment for knights? I'm aware that only certain generals (governers too? No idea..) have the ability to recruit knights from castles, but what is that ability? A trait/retenue?

It seems that only one of my generals has the ability to recruit. Is it anything to do with the rank of knight himself? Squire, knight, banneret etc..? Hmm I may well have just answered my own quetion

And on another note, do the faction leader/heir go through the same promotion process or does that freeze when they get their title?

    Cheers in advance.

You did answer your own question, the highest level of cavalry requires the highest level of character 'knight' level, etc. and perhaps your king can too (I haven't used this option much).

And yeah, it freezes on becoming heir.

Welcome to DLV, glad to hear you're enjoying it

I think we replay to fast on this board JK

Kings can recruite all types of knight. As he likes to sit on his fat ass in the Capital, then he is also quite close to the Citedal.

    Knigh - Knight Banneret(+retnue) - Knight Commander(+retnue) - Knight Grand Cross(+retnue) (and the King)

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Ah yes it all makes sense now I'm a bit further on into the campaign. Thankyou again for your timely assistance.

Ahnnn slighlty off topic, but may ask you great modders to make it so that the "knight" retinue is replaceable? Like, if you get a knight commander, he'll get the commander retinue and loose the last retinue? Because my generals (at least those I actually use to battle) usually get 8 ancillaries really fast due to this.
