Why cause running back in routing?
for example:
my jaegers or linie hold the line and fight.
an enemy unit (grenadier) comes nearer and i want to lure the enemy to hunt them
or i want to have a safer distance and so i want to go back a little- because the plaenkler-modus didnt work. and because the enemy is so near that he can shoot me in back- i klick run
but in most cases running back causes to rout my troops (espescially they fights for a longer while)
is this normal?
in so many situations i must correct the distance and i think it is normal to put ur troops away a little. but when they root
im badly surprised every time when this happens
and it happens to level 2 units. i wanted them deeper in forrest - they was stronger then the enemy linie in this case. i run back and they routs.
how can i safely go back ?

Are we talking singleplayer or multiplayer? The morale penalty on higher difficulty levels often has this effect.

Jaegers have very low morale. So yes this is normal, especially if you're playing on the harder settings. Put your light units on skirmish mode, this will make them rout less when moving away from a superior force. Remember light infantry are not meant to stand against line infantry or grenadiers for that matter.

Re: Why cause running back in routing?
oh sry
i meaning multiplayer
and sometimes the skirmish mode didnt work correctly- enemy grenadiers comes nearer and nearer in their own shooting distance and my jaegers didnt go back
so i command them to go back.. and then they routs
my level 2 linies routs. in this bat i have more men than the enemy linie, so shootingfight could be my win. but the enemy brings second linie to them. i want go deeper in forrest- they routs
i dont understand the mechanics that they rout instead of run to a safer place
