The Confederate
The North

It's the North. The South still can't get over they lost. I understand why they rebelled, but I do agree with their course of action of course.
Obviously as a Russian its natural to support the side thats wants to secede, after all a weak US means a strong Russia.
I support the the side that wants a unified nation, and in this case it was the North. If the southern states didn't want to just secede but wanted the US all for themselves, and both sides fought for total conquest, then it would be hard for me to pick which side. I think i would still pick the north, because of the Slavery issue.

how about that they stood up to federal government and stood up for states rights? but of course you dont care you went to a public school that said the war was about slavery (which it wasnt) and that taught that lincoln loved the slaves (which he didnt) oh yea they also teach that slave owners beat their slaves half to death (which they didnt) you were taught that the north fought a honorable and clean war (how is burning and looting most of Georgia honorable?)
you've bought into all of the lies that the government has put out. number one the war was about states rights. number two slavery wasnt an issue until lincoln issued his emancipation proclamation. (purely political he even admited that) number three the Bible says slavery is ok does that mean that every jew and christian is a mean racist?

Because you like people fighting for the right to keep people as property? So, which side do you like the most? For me, it's defiantly the South.

how can anyone be sympathetic for the south?
Have a question about China? Get your answer here.
Because your sympathetic for when the federal government served the state government, but the civil war was only about the south wanting slaves cuz they hated "naggers", not anything to do with federal and state powers
Personally im torn between the two since i understand why the south wanted to seceed but then again i want the country to stay together, so i will abstain from voting.
I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes: If you F___ with me, I'll kill you all.

Nostalgia aint as good as it used to be
Quite simply... This may come as a shock to you but many southernors were also against slavery. Here's another one for ya... Black people also owned slaves. So lets try to do this as delicately as a heart surgeon operating on a patient with a mackeral.... The South did not secede SOLELY for the right to own slaves. Being able to choose whether or not to own slaves on a state by state basis was more the issue.
Choice is a powerful thing, and when you take that away it is no wonder that people wanted to make their own decisions. When you walk to a coke machine and see that every button spits out pepsi, dont you get a little upset? If you want a coke and the federal government says, "no we only drink pepsi now, everyone must drink pepsi" i think you might also want to rebel (unless you actually like pepsi)

The south definantly, they fought for more than just the right to keep slavery they fought for their idea of freedom, plus they have a cooler flag.
oh and when you ask how one can sympathize with the Confederacy the other responds how can you sympathize with the Union even after they one slaves were still persecuted and treaty pretty much the same as in the south so i believe slavery is an overated excuse to hate the south or support the north.
