Tea Parties about Far More than Taxes

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/..._more_tha.html

Many writers have dubbed the Tax Day Tea Parties as inconsequential, a fad that will die quickly, and of foolish origins that have nothing to do with the American patriots of revolutionary days. Patriots dumped a ship full of tea into Boston Harbor, these folks contend, to protest one thing: taxation without representation. We modern patriots have representation and are therefore insane to protest, or so this line of argument goes.

Folks who believe that the American Revolution was over nothing but taxation -- a penny more for a cup of tea or sugar or any of the other fees and taxes that the British were constantly adding to colonists' backs -- are as dimwitted as was King George in his day. The tea tax may have been the single match that started the fire, but the British had been soaking their American colonies in tyrannical kerosene for a long, long time.

Wanted to share this article with you all. I thought it was interesting.

    Whoa, maybe it's about tea!

Or is it the Glorious Revolution? Who calls Lenin? I call Trotsky!

    Perhaps a tea based revolution?

Hmm, maybe the protesters should have clarified the ramblings on their signs. All they seemed to say is that they think Obama is a communist/fascist/socialist/time travelling barbarian/ alien from another dimension and should be impeached.

Oh, and apparently all of the protesters make over 300 000 a year and are thus going to be taxed more now. Funny, you'd think they would have nicer clothes or cars for making that much, but apparently not.

Oh, and apparently some of them were kidding, and were making fun of how stupid the other ones were who were serious. Hard to tell when they're all so nonsensical, though.

The Tea Party was on the IRS tax filing deadlline day. If it was supposed to be about more than taxes, the supporters could have been a bit clearer on what the protest was about. Actually, even if it was about taxation and expenditures -- they still could have been a bit clearer. I think the whole bit about going out and protesting the state of affairs is fine. The elected representatives need to be reminded that people are watching and paying attention. To a degree -- I would prefer that both the left and the right get the attention of each and every representative.

I just think the the teabaggers wanted an excuse to be Whiny. Although, it's in their right to teabag each other as long as they want.
