    Is Texas A Terror State?

    By Jim Byrd

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/...ror_state.html

    Excerpts:

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Texas fits the Department's profile of potential domestic terrorism described in their newly released report titled, " Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment".
Let's test Texas's terror threat assessment capabilities based on voting habit:

    Anti-abortion--check

    Pro-Gun--check

    Anti-gun control--check

    Predominantly Christian--check

    Military bases--check

    Returning soldiers--check

Against high taxes (no state tax in Texas)--check, check

    Anti-illegal immigration--check

    Against an overreaching federal government--check

    Conservative--check

Extreme right-wing (according to Democratic Party standards)--check

    Understands Article 1, Section 8--check

    Understands the 10th Amendment--check

Rejects federal authority in favor of state or local authority--check

That sums it up: Texas is most definitely a terror state in the eyes of Secretary Napolitano and her agency.

They already did secede, back in 1861, remember?

Things didn't go so well for them, though. Kind of lost the civil war. Apparently their governor has a rather short memory, or a very limited knowledge of American history. Probably both.

    1. Half the population is anti-abortion, not just Texas.

2.Pro-Gun and anti-Gun control? Aren't these the same damn thing? Not to mention, a significant amount of the population is against overly severe gun control laws.

3.Predominantly Christian? THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS PREDOMINANTLY CHRISTIAN

    4. There are plenty of military bases in plenty of states, Ft Hood is not the only US military base in the nation.

    5. There are returning soldiers all across the nation.

6.So are you Pro Taxes? Again, the whole nation is against new taxes 99% of the time.

    7. Who's pro Illegal immigration?

8.Wasn't the country founded against the concept of a strong federal government? I do believe such illustrious Americans like Jefferson were against centralized government.

    9. What's wrong with being conservative? Again, a significant portion of the nation is conservative.

10.How do you define extreme right wing? Please post the definition.

    11 & 12. What's wrong with understanding the constitution?

    13. And what's wrong with rejecting federal authority over state authority when the state's powers are clearly defended by the constitution?

I'd sum it up for you, but I did in the first sentence of my post.

As a terrori....errrr Texan....imo....this whole thing is brewing up here simply because our current Governor, Rick "Do you like my hair" Perry is involved in a re-election campaign with someone who carries more cred than he does, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Ricky is currently living, and has been even before the Governor's mansion got torched during refurbishing, at a nice $10,000 PER MONTH residence. Ricky also is the one who dreamed up the trans-Texas corridor (now defunct) which would have gobbled up a ONE MILE wide swath of land (mostly valuable farmland) through the entire state from north to south.

He also supports letting college kids carry guns to their classroom.

    *sigh*

    Nine more years until retirement.

How would a state actually secede?
Would they just say they're up and leaving the states?

Well, Texas has the right to do that, with the approval of their governor, and maybe the majority of their state government.

    Yes, I do.

There is a big 'MAY' in the report, which means that it's open for consideration before they draw any conclusions

Rep to you, this checklist is non-verifiable to the point of being ridiculous.
