I really love all greek factions. Ive played them all and they are equally as good. Right now im playing as Rome. And this is the first time Ive played them long enough to get reforms, so Im really loving the legions, although I cant seem to retrain them. The factions I hate are the barbarian ones. I cant stand Gaul, and I never make it far as the Germanic Tribes. Infact Id like to see someones empire as Gaul or the Germanic Tribes in the Great Mod Post Empiers thread.
Pretty much all Civilised Factions (Carthage, Roma, Greece, Macedone, Pergamum,...)
Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae.
What faction do I like being... umm ah
What is civilised and whats not civilised is not that conclusive and since im learning Athropology at Uni they teach us that useing thsese terms as a framwork is fine but they are not accurate nor is there a clear difference between people to catagorise people into barbarian or civilized people despite what you might think.
I also hate the fact that so many people favour only the Greeks and Romans, this seems to me to be Euro-centrism, which is not the fault of the individual, but of wider society and culture where Romans and Greeks are really the only ancient people portryed(at least in the english world) in films and litrature.
I used to be like this only interested in Greeks and Romans, but after reading a book on Atilla the Hun I become interested in nomaidc people and from there my intereast in other people bloomed.
I don't mean to pick on anyone or somehow sound arrogant but it really irretates me when I see all this Euro-centrism, as if the Greek and Roman worlds were all that existed.
You lost me at Euro-sentrism, are you serious?! I actually laughed, and I'm sorry to inform you, you do sound arrogant, not that I mind that much, but turning a civilized/barbarian joke and mixing it with popular taste in what faction to play _in a game_ and coming out with the word euro-sentrism is quite a laughable matter.
You make it sound like we are actually doing some kind of harm if we play one faction exclusivly... And congrats, you read a book about Attila and now you're above that petty stuff, huh?I'm sorry, but Im really amused here. Oh, I can recommend Terry Jones - Barbarians documentary series, where he puts the Romans in a very bad light. Have a nice day and don't let the eurosentrism get you

I have only ever played as the Romans. the other factions just don't interest me - as far as i'm concerned, they're just glorified legion-fodder.![]()

Sorry - just not interested. if they don't have segmentata armour or speak latin, count me out. I'm a Roman fanboy, through and through - like I said, the other factions are glorified legion-fodder. It's the whole marble pillars/toga/baths/politics/speeches/wine/Tacitus/eagles/temples thing of classical Rome which gets me going.![]()

Im too huge Rome fan. As Im very interested about military history of Roman Empire, I like the legions, expecially Imperial ones with Lorica Segmentata. But sometimes I play also as Greeks, Macedonians or Pergamum because of the phalanx and hoplites wich are great too but no match for Roman maniples.![]()
I love Rome, as it gives me the most immersion and I love the army. I also have a hardon for Seleucid Empire, tho I havent come around to play it in RS yet, just in vanilla. The germans hold a special place aswell.
Tho in RS2 (from what I guess from previews) its gonna be Rome>Sparta>Seleucids
