    Default STUPID ASSUMPTIONS

As GB, I had planned my whole campaign strategy for fighting the French in North America on acquiring the 13 colonies ( in the GB campaign if you take two cherokee Regions and Quebec then the 13colonies in America will join you ) I was under the stupid assumption that their troops joined my army...Imagine my surprise when after i'd finally captured Quebec all troops and ships of 13 colonies disappeared. Leaving me at the MMercy of pirates, Spanish ships and large French resistance.

WHAT HAVE YOUR STUPID ASSUMPTIONS BEEN ?

Non Stupid assumption award to me for thinking someone would say this.

Congrats for being the first though

    Isn't that the truth.

ETW has worked fine for me since day one. Let me tell you that you aren't missing out on much if you are experiencing the constant CTDs. In many respects the game is about as shallow as Paris Hilton.

In my first campaign I wanted to expand into India right away, and I assumed that Mysore would be a pushover, so as Britain I sent half a stack of line infantry and demi cannons there to conquer the place and got completely owned. Didn't realise how tough the indian factions can be.

I had exactly the same playing as France: I took out the Mohawks and the Cherokee then Louisiana joined me... with no armies. That doesn't prevent me from keeping up this campaign. Maybe It would have been to easy to steal Louisiana/13 colonies/New Spain armies for free. This is really not the ned of the world. Fighting with the bug sound is a bigger annoyance to me.

About the other complaints: I was in rage to see that ETW was unfinished on March 4, but since the patches came out, no more problems. Now honestly I am very tired of all this CA free bashing and permanent whining for a vanilla game. Unsatisfied? Just mod it!

I assumed that Mysore would only have one stack, and that it would be easy to be.

I am one of the still large percentage with a game that is unplayable due to CTDs. Could you explain to me how to mod those out? Or should I just be satisfied that YOU are able to play now, and not continue to voice my displeasure with my non-functioning product?

Hey, take it easy, I'm not your college roommate.

The vast majority of players, even TWC members, have no more trouble with CTDs -well most of the time- as you can see in polls. So don't throw at me a supposed egoism OK?

I guess there are still some material incompatibilities with certain cards (graphic, sound, whatever) and that some computer sets are still not compatible. That's the risk with almost all videogames and It could be worse.

I sincerely empathize with your situation but complaining on TWC won't change a thing. Better check/ask the tech subforum and/or submit your precise problem to CA or your reseller if you cannot play at all.

EDIT: yes you can correct some features by modding it, like that "all playable factions". I'm no expert ETW files are so different from previous games, but there's a Modding sub-forum so go chekc it.

@ Liberius: but Paris Hilton can be very deep... depends on what you mean by that...
Anyway, I prefer that than losing my time on a boring game, even if it's "historically accurate" and "very complex". WTF ?!

Absolutely right and my sentiments exactly.

My game is also unplayable and it is stupid for people to expect us to quit voicing our dissatisfaction just because they can play the game. I have made it a personal goal to be as vocal as possible on any forum where Empire is discussed to share my experiences. After 6 weeks of waiting and Empire being beta tested using my money, I am definately fed up.

Starting as the Marathas, I assumed that a British and French invasion was immenant, like the advisor said, so I built up my armies and waited...and waited...and waited...and then conquered the Mughals.

    I assumed:

    - I could ask allies to declare war on another nation (why this feature was removed is anyone's guess).
    - the AI would sometimes seek peace (either with the player or with other AI factions)
    - I could trade technologies
    - after 10 years of TW titles, we would finally see the AI transport troops by sea
    - I could role-play my leaders
    - the French would put up a fight in N. America
    - the Spanish would put up a fight anywhere
    - the British would behave like an empire when played by the AI
    - the Mughals wouldn't roll over like schoolgirls after their first beer
    - that we would see combined armies of Native Americans and their colonial allies
    - that the Native American armies would fight like Native Americans actually fought and not as European line infantry
    - that we would see some variety of European units
    - etc etc etc etc etc etc
    - that it would be up to the modders to bring out the true potential of the game yet again

Having said that, long live CA for developing a product that no other developer is capable of doing. Despite its faults, it's still fun!
