Crashing well in game - Please Help!!!

hi

someone please help, i am well into a grand campaign (150 turns), and it is really annoying. when i press on a unit (mostly naval units) it will freeze, then the screen will go white, a error message notifying me that empire total war will have to close appears, then the game just crashes.

this is happening now about 75% of the time when clicking on units. for say the first 100 or so turns everything was fine, then it just started to freeze when clicking on units then came back after 10-20 seconds, now it just crashes.

i am running a Intel Pentium[R] D CPU 3.40GHz 3.39GHz. 2GB RAM. XP service pack 2. NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS

help would be much appreciated

This is a known problem, its got to do with advanced copper bottom tech research.

Adding a sloop to the fleet will almost 100% solve the issue, well it did for me and many others..
