    Default 18 or 19 century?

    hello..

i just had an idea into mind. do u think Empire would've been better, or u would preferred it if took place in the 19 century instead of the 18 or do you like it the way it is?
"Egyptians; to the young rebels, and to every one who was killed, bloodied or contributed in the simplest way, what you did has defied any description. you have the world on it's knees gazing at your bravery and determination. you have opened up a new chapter in Egyptian history, one that will be determined by people's love for this country" - an honorable revolutionary,

Except you know, the unification of Italy, the unification of Germany, Greek independence from the Ottomans, and Belgian independence from Austria

Besides the early part of the 19th Century, much of Europe was quite peaceful. Latin America had its revolutions and there was the conquest of Africa and the Opium wars, but other than a few minor wars, nothing major happened in terms of military feats. So no, 18th Century is a much better century to play.

Well for the most part yes, the Pax Britannica essentially lasts until 1870 but there is a good deal of happening late in the 19th century:

The Crimean War, American Civil War, German unification, Russo-Turkish War, Zulu War, Boer Wars, Spanish American War

Plus the 19th century offers the emergence of Japan and the Meiji Restoration.

Of course both centuries would be nice, the game's scope feels small compared to RTW

I think the better choice for options would be 17th or 18th century because of above reasons.

    really? 17th century?

any way, the way i see it is..19 century tech is much cooler than the 18 century's tech. while the events might not be as important as the 19 century, but so wut. i thought we get to do the events in the game.

    i guess it's just me.

It would be better in the time before the Americas were colonized, so you could truly change history by keeping the Aztecs or Incas alive and thriving. How cool would that be, having the Incas developing into the 1600's and early 1700's?

well in at the start of the nineteth century you got nepolaen but after them european nations stopped colonizing and moved out of the era plus there wasn't much wars in the 1800's in europe.

What do you mean with stopped colonizing?
The 19th century was the age of imperialism - the partizipation of Asia and Africa under the european powers.

True he dominated Europe in the early 19th century, but from a historical view and gameplaywise a 19th century game should start after the Napoleonic wars.

p.s. in 1814 he had lost controll over much of his former allies, so a date around 1809 would be a better year of his highest power.

I strongly dislike the later uniforms with the tall hats which make no sense and the tighter coats.

It was belgian independance from the Netherlands, not Austria.

Its a bit silly these days though, they have so many problems with having two languages that it probably would have been better if the french speaking part would allign with france and the flemish speaking part stayed with the Netherlands.

I don't really see a great deal of difference, unless we're talking late 19th century.
