Default I'm lost about the installation and versions...please help.

Hi, everyone. After two or so weeks of reading about Medieval 2, I finally got the Gold edition yesterday. I had to run the setup manually, since I didn't have enough space on the C drive, and I wanted to install in F. I installed M2 using the first disc, then I installed the Kingdoms campaigns using the second disc. I tried running the setup.exe files from the Update 2 and Update 3 folders on the second disc, but I got messages telling me I was already at version 1.03. However, when I click on the Options button when running M2, in the top right corner it says 1.02. If I run one of the Kingdoms campaigns, it says version 1.04. However, on all the Total War forums I've found, there is no mention of these versions. The only ones that are mentioned are 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5.

My questions: When forum users refer to patches 1.2, 1.3 and so forth, do they mean 1.02, 1.03 etc., or is my installation screwed up and I need to download some more patches? From my reading, you don't need to download anything if you have the Gold edition, except for patch "1.5".

Is my M2 game fully patched? Why did the messages say I have version 1.03 when the game says 1.02? I believe the "1.3" patch only fixes some Kingdoms multiplayer compatibility issues and it's supposed to be installed automatically when installing Kingdoms, but I'm worried about the huge amounts of bugs the first two patches fixed, so I wanted to make sure I was fully patched before beginning a Grand Campaign (and finishing reading the manual!).

Now I just have to download patch 1.5 for Kingdoms and I'll be all set? Does patch 1.5 (or is it 1.05?) affect only Kingdoms, or does it change anything in the "standard" M2, and therefore I should get it before starting a Grand Campaign?

Thank you very much for your help.

First off, yes when users refer two 1.2, 1.3, etc, they mean 1.02, 1.03 and so on.
As for M2TW showing patch 1.02 instead of 1.03 i can not tell, i supose something got messed up while patching (not actually meaning the game doesn't have the patch, maybe it ''forgot'', so to say, to change to 1.03), but as long as Kingdoms and M2TW both work, i don't think anything is wrong
Consider yourself lucky, you seem to be one of the many few without any real problems, from what I read so far...

And, from what I know, patch 1.05 (1.5) ONLY affects kingdoms as the last patch for M2TW was 1.03 (1.3).

Haha, now that you mention it, yes, it seems that everyone is having huge headaches over this game.

I also had one when the game wouldn't install due to insufficient space on drive C, but I searched and searched and found a solution. Vive les forums!
