    Default RS2 Question

I was wondering will this mod when complete of course be a mod when downloaded will not effect other mods. Man mods today take themselves and do not effect the core of the game so alot of mods can be played woth the same base system.

I have EB installed so will I need a fully new clean version of RTW to play RS2. (Please tell me know haha)

Sorry, but RS2 isn't (and won't be for the foreseeable future) modfoldered. This means that you will have to have a seperate install of RTW 1.5 (with nothing modded in it) to install it into.

I have 4 copies of Rome installed. 1 for SPQR, 1 for RS, 1 for vanilla and 1 for BBW. As long as you dont mix up the shortcuts it works fine!

it's simple. take a normal copy of RTW and install it as normal. then copy and paste the RTW folder to another directory on your computer. keep it there. now you can install a mod if you like, so the original RTW files in their original directory will be modded, but the copied ones in the second directory will still be normal RTW. then, if you want a new mod, copy the "copied" vanilla RTW into a third directory of your choice, and target the mod's installer to that third directory. you should now have 3 copies of RTW on your pc - one un-modified, and two others, each with a different mod installed. now every time you want to install a new mod, just copy the the vanilla files to a new directory, and install the new mod to that new directory. you can keep doing this until you run out of room for extra copies of the RTW folder on your hard drive!

Err... no, because RS isn't compatible with it - i assume something would have to be mod-foldered in order to work with that, which RS ain't.

I've been using the method that rory o'kane has posted since the late part of 2005. It's the way to go. I recently went back to my previous PC and I had about 15 different folders with RTW and RTW based mods on it. I did a bit of house cleaning yesterday.....

Ok so this seems simple enough Just re-install RTW into another folder on the desktop but when I start up the disc it says RTW is already installed

Am I right in thinking that you have one copy of RTW installed and that that has EB in it? If so, then here's what you should do (provided that you haven't got an ongoing EB game going or whatever):

    1. Uninstall/delete the current RTW install
    2. Reinstall RTW
    3. Patch RTW to v1.2
    4. Copy this folder twice so you have 3 folders of RTW v1.2
    5. Rename one of the folders something like RS1.5 and then patch this to v1.5
    6. Install RS1.5 as per the instructions
That's it for the RS one. Then if you want to install EB agai do so but ALWAYS leave 1 folder a completely vanilla RTW. It saves you having to do this again.

You just copy and paste the vanilla install to another directory on your hard drive or external drive
In other words go to your file path for the original C/:, program files, the creative assembly , then copy and paste the rome folder to somewhere else
You dont have to reinstall but make sure the one you copy isnt already modded

you don't re-install it. you simply copy and paste the normal RTW folder to somewhere else. copy and paste it multiple times in different places/with different names, and keep one un-modded so that if you want more copies you can make them. install one mod per copy...

there's a way for you to keep your save files - just copy the saved game folder to another part of your hard drive. when you've got RS installed on one of your copies of vanilla, just replace the saved game folder in the RS directory with your copied one.

You don't need 2 copies of RTW for RS and EB: RS modifies the RTW game but EB installs in a separate folder and does not modify the game. So first install EB, then RS. Then you can run EB from its icon and RS from the RTW icon.

I did it and it works fine.

RTR VII FoE is still in beta test - so you shouldn't have that. You may have RTR VII TIC. RTR VII games are mod-foldered.

Personally, I keep even mod-foldered games in their own install. Disc space isn't a problem.

I recently went back to using my old desktop and found that I had about 15 different RTW mods installed.

Edited: Some mods want a clean install of RTW - I am not always sure that this happens with mod-foldered games.....

Hello everyone, I'm not an expert in history stuff so pardon me if this question is a wrong one:

Is it really historically accurate that "Empire" has 22 legions, or it has something to do with in-game limitations? I had once heard that there were 28 legions, 3 of which were utterly destroyed in Germania, which means 25 legions existed during more-less entire principate. Is this true?

Yes. At the end of the republic there 60ish legions around. This was cut down to 28. Then with those 3 destroyed it dropped to 25, and between AD70 and AD120 it rose to 30 and more or less stayed that way untill the fall of the Empire.

There are hardcoded limits in the game, so modders have to do the best they can with what is available.
