Default Crashes then starts back up

Ive been playing a swedish campaign im around 1775 and now Im getting CTD but the after the screen goes to desktop I just click the etw box and it starts the game right where I left off no reloading. I guess its just half a crash. I dont know just another oddity of this frustrating game I guess!

Has the game done a CTD or has it just minimized itself? It sounds like the later as if the game really did a CTD then you should get the usual game launch screens.

If the game is minimizing itself I'd suggest looking at the services running in the background using msconfig. I'd check what each service is before turning it off. I once had some HP services running in the background and when they kicked it I had the game I was playing minimized. OK for a turn based game but a disaster for a motor racing game - I'd be in the barriers before I could return to the game.

So, if it just minimizes itself it doesn't CTD - that's good news (honestly).

Do you have any other applications running in the background that may be doing something? You can use the Windows Task Manager to find that out.

If you don't then it may be a service that's running - run msconfig to have a look at the services that are running. Before you stop any make sure that you know what they are - look them up on google. After a while you get a good idea of what should and should not be running.
