I made this thread so people can express their opinions on this fantastic tv series. What do you like about it, who are your favourite characters, what do you dislike/like about the story.

    All worthy topics of conversation!

For me, I loved all of the characters, especially Tony and Carmela. The chemistry between them is apparent and they have a very interesting love hate relationship that is fascinating to watch.

I also enjoyed the various jobs that had to be done, ya'know, roughing up a greaseball that hasn't paid money..

Also enjoyed watching the dynamic between Christopher and Tony, how Tony grooms him to take over the business and become a more prominent participant and then Christopher's fall from grace into drugs and anger.

    Makes for a fantastic show.

I thought it was a great show, but the ending... well, I had a mixed reaction to it. One positive is that it was mysterious, but the negative is the fact that it was a cliff-hanger ending. My folks were somewhat disappointed by the ending too I think.

I rented the first series and watched about 5 episodes but never really got into it. I think I should have perhaps watched more.

Thats a shame, exactly what happens at the end? I'm ashamed to admit I haven't seen the 7th season.

Yes you definetly need to get the rest of season one and then promptly move onto series two. Trust me, you will be hooked. As the characters and story develop you will not be able to stop watching it. Plenty more action and new faces in season 2 and beyond, keeps the whole thing interesting.

To add what has been said before: the thematic itself is interesting to me, as they are a bunch of human beings moving around societys laws and morality, and its smothers in congenial drama and black-humor situations.

In every episode, I had at least one or two moments thinking: what a great show.

Best thing on TV ever IMO.

I've seen all of the seasons apart form the last one.

Multisanti and Pauli were the best characters IMO. The episode were they go into the woods to find the Russian was genius.

Seen 'em all. They get better and they have a very interesting psychology to them. I heard a psychiatrist did an evaluation for each of the characters in like season 3 and they found these evaluations in season 5... the characters were fleshed out so well the matched almost completely.

One of the greatest series ever made. Even though I didn't really like the ending. The Music and atmosphere were simply amazing in most episodes.

I agree 100%, they seem to just blend into the world seamlessly which makes it all the more believable and real. The dynamics between the family and the law are also interesting to watch, the way Tony and others taunt them and the way the FBI keeps coming into their store for a sandwhich.

That's really quite amazing. Was the Psychiatrist Melfi?

For me, The Sopranos is the greatest production in television history.

It's fascinating for me to see the way I and many others can fall in love with the characters - who are in essence, sociopaths, murderers and rapists.

That's the beauty of the whole show. The way that the characters are written and played makes you care for them and be interested in them, to the point where you forget that they are criminals and part of the mafia. HBO have done a top job.

I love this series!!! I've watched the first four seasons! (I am now going to watch the rest of it!) It is by far the best TV series ever (equalled maybe by the excellent -HBO's also- Rome)! Christopher, Paulie, Silvio, Andrianna and -ofcourse- Tony are some of the best characters ever put on screen! It's more of an epic film cut to 13 pieces every season, than a usual TV series!
